PC 7 days without Steam

I've inquired about this before, but didn't really provide an answer about why steam is a problem.

Tonight I go to start up a game of 7 days, and steam has decided to download an update, so I'm sitting here for 10 minutes waiting.   Is there an 'offline' mode, so I don't have to wait for steam to decide when I can play my games?

I  steam in so many ways.  But it seems like it should be an option to play offline.   I don't care about steam updates or patches or X, when I just want to play a game. 

Ditto with all forced updates in general I guess.   7 days itself has done this: requiring an update to play.   Let me decide when to update please.

Just right click on the game and choose Properties.  Under Updates, turn off automatic updates.  You can do that with other games as well.

turn off the internet and then start up

there is a panic do you want to play off line message just click on f off

i am rural new zealand and cant get unlimited broadband so need to be frugal with my ones and zeroes across the ether

connect when YOU know there is an update worthy of the bandwidth and wait

otherwise surround yourself in the bubble of where you are at with the game, enjoy it, and leave the world behind
