4x4 Vehicle Storage & Gas Usage

My friend and I thought it would be a good idea if the 4x4 vehicle could hold more (at a cost) when out raiding buildings in a big town. It seemed the trips always get cut short due to storage issues.

Our suggestion would be to allow the 4x4 more storage but at a cost. First, it would use more gas requiring people to grind oil shale in the desert. And if you held too much stuff in the car it would use a weight mechanic that would slow the vehicle. Or possible a trailer that would be pulled by the 4x4 that would have this built in mechanic. Either way that sounds like a great addition. 

Would love to know what the community thought about this concept.

Well, it's not a bad idea; but I find a bit unnecessary. The 4x4 has a massive storage as is, and if you're raiding with a friend, you can use two. That doubles the fuel cost and the storage, so it's pretty close. Getting two 4x4s full sounds more like an inventory management issue to me .. Add drones with cargo mods for raid supplies and running out of space is kinda .. hard.

I wouldn't complain if something like that was implemented; but I probably wouldn't use it all too often.

@theFlu Honestly that was a bunch of good points. I could use drones and will start. We do use and have multiple 4x4s. I think our base location is the other reason I thought of the idea. We spawned way in the corner of the map and built a base before realizing we were near the corner of the world boarder. We are now trying to move the base to a central location and it is taking forever. Gas is fairly easy to grind large amounts. But if the 4x4s(or a trailer addition) used more when carrying more, the late game base moves might feel more like an adventure. Or if you need to grind a ton of materials for a trailer and a ton of Gas. It might be a great late game goal to add to the game. Hard to move 30, 40, 50+ crates of materials half way across the maps.

@mecksI think we are efficient at managing vehicle storage but maybe we are missing something. Wouldn’t be the first time. 

Thanks for replying to my post. Glad this community is so active. About to start the Darkness Falls Mod in a few weeks. After our server gets to day 100 or we finish all we set out to do.

Try scrapping items you don't necessarily need or can easily craft/forge later.

Also when traveling with a group of people you can toss their vehicles into the 4x4 and all ride together, to save gas on the way there.

I think if this was not a factor in your gameplay you would not feel the need for the 4x4 to have more storage. Moving is always a grind, especially if you are late game with tons of stuff. At least you have another person and vehicle to help. I've found myself wishing for more storage, but only when I've done long map uncovering stints. Never think about having it as part of my daily usage.
