2.2 stable fresh download, fresh map, game crash

I just did see the new 2.2 release and downloaded the game from Steam again. When launching and starting new game (default map or custom map) it always happens that when the game should open it just crashes, not even any error shown.

Not sure what else to add... all fresh, crash...

In Steam, right click on 7 Days to Die, Properties, then Installed Files. You then click Verify integrity of game files. Let this do it's thing and see if it replaces any files.

Yea, already did that. First time it found and replaced 1 file. But the error remains same. The log attached is from after doing this already.

Any mods installed? Make sure to check in the 7 Days to Die folder, in Mods, there should be only this folder: 0_TFP_Harmony. Anything else could prevent the game from loading, if any mods present aren't compatible with V2.2

Yes, checked that also already before. As mentioned it is a fresh download from steam as I had it uninstalled before.

You might need to do it a couple more times. Steam tends to have a hard time installing all the necessary files the first time, or even the second time, and it's possible you are still missing some.

As well, it wouldn't hurt to exclude your game client from your antivirus software.

ok, did validation like 5 times, the last couple of times it did redownload the c distro and some game file. After that being done it finally worked to log in to a world.

But now I got another crash during the 2nd quest:

Nope, I am running a pre-built MSI desktop, see the specs:

So, you are aware then of the possible degradation of your Intel i9 14900KF CPU?
Also, your Phison 2tb SSD could be affected by a recent Windows update. You can find info on a recent GamerNexus video, and Jayz2cents also talked about it this week on his channel.

I hope that's not the reason for your problem, but it's worth checking out.

To reinforce what Space said, your CPU is one of the models that is known to experience instability issues. You can:
  • Make sure your BIOS is updated to the latest version for your motherboard so that you are running on the recommended settings.
  • Adjust your power limit to whatever the default is for your processor to prevent overclocking.
  • Make sure your cooling system is working as intended to prevent overheating.
  • Some of those errors seem to be tied to RAM usage which could be tied your processor issues as well. You can run a RAM diagnostic test using the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool.
  • If you have the Windows update 24H2, it's been reported to have caused certain SSDs to corrupt, one of them being Phison. It's recommended to revert back to an older update until Windows fixes it:
  • Sylen also has a pinned thread in Game Support that you will want to look at as well: https://community.thefunpimps.com/threads/issues-with-intel-cpus.42738/
Once you have done that (if you so choose), keep verifying those files some more for extra measure just in case something else is missing.

Yes, I did see the post above already.

But I still doubt that just because CPUs and SSDs and Windows might get broken my game crashes within seconds. This is not the only game I am playing, and I can play other games for hours without a crash. If it would be due to CPU or other hardware I should get worse issues and not just limited to 1 game.

Alrighty then; if you don't mind starting a new game from scratch, do all of the following steps:

- Follow this video to remove everything from your saves folder:
- Uninstall 7 days to Die in Steam (I know you already know how to do that)
- After it's uninstall, go to the folder were the game was in File Explorer and make sure to delete that folder if it's still there (you don't want any traces left)
- Restart the PC (just because I felt like adding this here 😁 )
- Go back in Steam and install the game again... And then I wish you Good Luck. Let me know if it works or not (just curious).

In the end my computer started to also have more issues. Some games not using unreal engine seem not to be affected that hard, seems you first see it with UE games. I will send in my hardware to get it replaced.
