PC 1.4 Motorcycle

Is it just me, or is the Motorcycle in 1.x way to long? I can see riding it on the roads to cities, but in the cities the turning radius is way to high, and every time I power slide I ram into something.

I figure I could just ride the minibike through the cities. It has great turning radius and can go down really small alleys between POIs that the motorcycle would never be able to do. The only thing I dislike about the minibike is when you hit a curb the bike goes 10' in the air and spins all around ( the reason I made the motorcycle to begin with).

Also my teragon 13k map with multiple megacities is so massive that I have to make 2-3 runs to a temp storage container (which is a a massive distance in itself) when I go wrenching vehicles for gas and crafting materials. I was thinking yesterday that it would be nice to have a "Bag of Holding" mod - any nerds out there that know what one of those is?

Here is a medium sized city of about 12 cities:

I mean you could use the breaks and turn around slowly so you don´t ram into something? I would never switch back to the minibike because of the turning radius. That´s literally a non issue.

Hmm; I'd say the main issue is that not even teragon seems to produce city maps with an actual grid? I have no experience with it, but that image looks like it'd be a traffic nightmare with none of the streets leading through the city. So it turns into a maze, and you'll end up using the "backstreet shortcuts" that have been built into the vanilla system for your travels. Those are always a pain to navigate, the motorcycle is a tiny bit worse than the minibike for those spots; but compared to vanilla a large dense city is going to feel a lot worse, you're going from shortcut to shortcut...

On the upside, a gyro should be achievable on week 1 with all the mailboxes, so learn to fly one of those ... :D

I slow to a crawl when I turn. The powerslide is like using handbrake in driving games like Need for Speed, and is fine on the minibike. On the motorcycle I fishtail at top speed so much I try to keep a completely perfect straight path when I am at top speed.

You are absolutely right, It is like a maze and is kind of annoying having to go through alleys when the roads stop, but it is packed with content, like vehicles, newspaper dispensers and POIs. here's the summery:

Tier 1 - 953
Tier 2 - 1173
Tier 3 - 1122
Tier 4 - 426
Tier 5 - 282

Total - 3956 POIs

When I was playing A21 a couple of years ago, I was running out of content. Like vehicles and whatever, so I decided to do a map with mega-cities. To be honest it was way overkill though and I could spend 6 month's exploring all the content on my map as it is. I have only explored 1/2 of the map picture I posted.

Not yet. I have obtained enough vehicle adventure magazines to make a 4x4 though, and I am on day 60. The 4x4 would be like driving a big rig through towns.

Thankfully I do kind-of remember how to ride the gyro from a couple of years ago.

Thanks for the replies guys.

It can if you want it to. However, POI only appear on certain kinds of tiles, so if most of your town is using intersection tiles other than the other edges, which you probably have set to rural or residential, you will miss out on a lot of POI, including the skyscrapers.

The issue is the lack of tiles that can support each kind of POI, so a grid layout limits the POI you will see.

Just for reference, you have control over how grid-like you want it to be. You can go from full grid to full random depending on your settings. That lets you set things how you want... from being very random and getting any POI to being grid and getting limited POI. Usually somewhere in the middle is best.

As far as the motorcycle, I have no trouble getting around towns at full speed with a supercharger.

Tomato, tomato. If I read you right, "City maps with an actual grid" is implementable, but produces crappy results in POI variety? Then I wouldn't really call it a feature. But thanks for the extra info :)

Not necessarily "crappy" results. There are enough POI for decent variety unless you make really large cities. But you just lose a lot of the higher tier POI because most of those aren't available on intersection tiles.

Edit: Let's say "a lot" aren't available on intersection tiles. I don't know if it is really most.
