Sleep?

So I was wondering where I can suggest that the character goes to sleep at night to pass the time at night and make it where only if your character is safe to be able to go to sleep. I think this would be great for early game because there’s not much you can do at the beginning and I personally hate do anything at night time.

I find plenty of stuff to do during the night, especially in the early stages. I mine, I build up/defend my base, cook food/water, organize my chests, prepare for the next day, etc. I rarely find myself in a position where I have nothing to work on. Imo, sleeping just doesn’t fit a game like 7 Days to Die.

Besides that there are plenty of things to do - I never have nothing to do - there are also reasons why sleeping isn't a good option.

This is not just a single player game. There isn't even a single player mode. Every game is multiplayer and you can just choose not to let anyone join you. When you are in a multiplayer game, sleeping to pass time isn't really a good thing. Even with only one other player, you're constantly standing around waiting for the other player to be finished with whatever they are doing so you can both choose to sleep at the same time. When you have the max (official) number of players in a game, which is 8, it gets FAR worse. And you can't exactly fast forward time for only certain people in a multiplayer game because time is the same for everyone. There are games that make you do this, and they are very frustrating.

As you play the game more, you'll find there are plenty of things to do to keep you occupied and realize that not doing anything for a quarter or third of every day while "sleeping" wastes a lot of time for no reason. You'll also realize there isn't any reason not to do things at night. Now, if they adding an animation that lets you sit down in a chair or lay down in bed without it fast forwarding time, that would be fine.

Why do you "hate" doing things at night? Is it because you fear running into feral Zeds? You can practice fighting feral Zeds 1 at a time or if you don't feel strong enough yet, run away and regroup. It's not that bad. You can also change your settings to slow ferals down.

I always go on a candy & soft drink run every 3 days and like others, do repairs, upgrade base, cook food, use the workbench's to make things, but I have wished I had the option to sleep on many occasion as I play 120 Minute Hours and the hours just drag on until I can go into town. It would be a great feature to have. When I start a new game I just pace back and forth on the roof of whatever building I start my temp base in looking for any zeds getting close and keep as quite as possible. This was always one of the fun parts of the game, just keeping an eye out and if I see a zed or group I just crouch behind something and hope they pass the building. Its not always a good idea to take on zeds at night with a wooden spear or bow. I remember in Navezgane in about a19 or something and there was a group of 4 or 5 zed getting close to my temp base and I was so scared they were going to see or hear me, one of the zeds is was a large women zed so I was scared. So I just stayed still hiding behind a chimney and they just passed by eventually.

That really just depends on your settings. With default settings, and some practice, fighting the zombies at night really isn't that much different from fighting them during the day. I'm always out doing stuff at night, right from day 1 with a wooden spear. And now that I set traders to 24 hours, I am also doing quests at night because I can actually turn them in and get new ones. So not only am I running around in towns at night, but I'm also fighting all the zombies in quests at night. But it does depend at least somewhat on your settings. Settings that make things more difficult can make nights harder than normal. But I would guess that someone who is struggling with nights and wants to sleep through them probably doesn't have the settings raised to be more difficult.

So my suggestion is to not be afraid of the dark. If you struggle with it, practice. Run around near your base at night and fight the zombies. If you run into trouble, you can easily run back to your base for protection. Or clear a POI during the day and then use that as your "base" at night, where you can run back to it for safety if you start having trouble with the enemies. But take some time to practice at night and you'll soon find that it's not really as difficult as it might seem at first. When I started this game, nights seemed extremely dangerous. Of course, back then you had bears and wolves and dire wolves (the originals, not the new ones) in the forest at night, so it was quite a bit more dangerous than it is now. But it didn't take long before I was always doing stuff at night... because of practice.

I'd love a sleep possibility. I play at Insane with Feral sense always on and especially at the beginning of games I typically huddle at the top of my base just waiting for the break of dawn.

Sleeping is just fast forward time. You can simulate that with a command. The st command. st day hour minute (ex. st 34 4 0) That would skip night and bring you to day 34 at 4 am. Assuming you play solo of course.

I have zombies sprint and night and traders are just daytime. I usually just keep all basic settings with just drop backpack only and 120 minute days changed, but I always forget to turn off loot spawn for some reason. So early on I may die a few times at night or even at day if I am not careful. Keeps me on my toes, even though in real life I only have 5 toes.

But it is up to whoever plays as to what settings they enjoy. After all it is not a competition sport, its supposed to be a fun game that people enjoy playing their way.
