Glitch After Latest Update

Had about 60 Steak and Taters cooking when I logged out before last update. Logged in, downloaded new update, started game and got back 3 Steak and Taters out of 60!

I demand a refund! This is an outrage! I need a minimum of 4 hogs and 10 chickens to feel fully compensated! 🐖 🐔

That's what happens when you leave them on the grill all night long while you aren't there to check them... they just burn up into nothing! :D

I actually did notice a change too. I had built and cemented a staircase up the front of the hospital to the first rooftop (not the helipad) so I never had to muck through the interior of the hospital ever again. It completely disappeared. I don't know whether it's because of the change to 3.0 or that the POI location was fully reset by a clear quest I took inside the hospital, but it's very strange to me, especially since it also happened to a staircase I had built to access the locked chest in the attic of a house POI. But there was no quest involving that house.

If you did a quest at the hospital, anything you build or placed there would be gone when you start the quest. That is always the case. As far as the other location, there could be a number of reasons, including whatever you have your chunk reset timer set to. Without more information, there's no definite way to tell you why that one disappeared if you didn't quest there. But if you know you quested at the hospital, that's definitely the reason.

Both had been at their designated spots for some time (the one to the house attic was there for longer), but yeah, it does make sense that the quest would reset the Hospital and wouldn't return it to the previous status. Just means that I'll have to avoid any quests involving the hospital from now on, especially since the one I went on I had to fail because I think a zombie glitched into...something. A wall or a floor or something. I searched for over a day in-game for it, couldn't find it. Oh, and my chunk timer is disabled.

Anyway, Thanks for the info.

This is, in part, what a Landclaim Block is for. Besides making it so you can pick up workstations that you place, it also prevents the POI it is in from being offered as a quest location and prevents its affected area from being wiped by a chunk reset.

Okay, but wouldn't a land claim block prevent the loot from resetting?
No. However, loot respawn timers get reset any time you visit the area. So if you aren't there for long enough, it will respawn within the land claim. But most of the time, your land claims are in places you regularly visit and so the loot never respawns. That refers specifically to containers that you can open and don't change state to an "open" container after emptying it. So things like trash cans and cars, but not things like store shelves or trash piles. For everything to respawn, the chunk has to reset. And that won't happen inside a land claim area.

I guess I'm not understanding correctly. I'm trying to establish a way to keep the staircase up to the attic of the house so I can keep claiming loot from a lockbox. Using a land claim block has been suggested to prevent said staircase from being removed from the area. From what you're saying here, it sounds like the lockbox would stop respawning as well.

The lockbox isn't a container that is destroyed when you loot it (e.g. a trash pile) or changed to an open state (e.g. store shelves), so it would have loot respawn in it. Though I don't know why you'd want to do that. If you want everything to be "free", why not just use the creative menu?

In any case, if your chunk reset is disabled and you don't take a quest there, the stairs will never disappear. Not without some kind of bug or corrupted save or similar, anyhow.

I don't want *everything* to be free. I just want a reason to not have to drive alll the way out to the desert or the wasteland to find something potentially useful. Also, ammunition is annoying to craft in large quantities and places with lockboxes either have ammo in the boxes themselves or ammo piles.

It's slightly off-topic, but if ammunition in particular is a problem then depending on your game settings you might find some relief by picking up Infestation missions. Maybe that sounds counterintuitive but the infestation caches provided by those missions often provide much more ammunition than is needed to kill the zombies in the mission itself, so I'll typically walk out with way more ammo than I walked in with.

Of course if you're playing with settings that make the zombies all indestructible bullet sponges, or with loot abundance cranked down, then that's probably a much different experience.
