Let us rest

During the live stream, people asked about adding in sitting and sleeping animations, and were literally threatened for it. But come on. Even Minecraft finally allowed sitting.

This is a survival game, the ■■■■■■ on the livestream that said no to sitting and whatnot said "if you wanna play like that go play an MMO"

How about you think about this....

My wife is currently playing, she is on day 91....in 91 days, her character hasn't sat down, or slept......

Does that sound like a way for a survivor to functionally live?

Remember when you guys had the "wellness" system, and not eating well lowered your max health and stamina? How about not resting (sitting) lowers your max stamina. A man cannot spend 24 solid hours hauling, running, and fighting, and get back to it just by standing around....

Add the sit option, and tie it to....every hour you don't "rest" (sit) your max stamina is reduced by 10%, and just a good 5 minute rest gets you back to full.

91 days without sleeping.

Make it an option, that every 24 hours we have to SLEEP, bed or bedroll, for 4 in game hours. Single player, it can be done the same as minecraft, just speed through time. But require safety, zombie gets within X blocks of you, you wake up.....

HOWEVER

Every 24 hours that you DO NOT sleep, that X blocks, shrinks.

So, 1 day, zombie within 10 blocks wakes you up.

2 days, 8 blocks

3 days, 6 blocks

If you hit 6 days, you pass out, 4 in game hours, and you will NOT wake up for 4 in game hours, so either you're safe, or you hope a zed doesn't get you.

2 birds with 1 stone, a new mechanic for survival, and a quality of life benefit for players.

Because you let us decorate, forgive me if I want to sit ont he sofa I placed.

I agree. If we can build a whole house with a couch and a bed, it’s kinda weird that our character never uses any of it. It would add a lot to the survival feeling. Maybe don’t force it on everyone, but having it as an option would be great.

Even as an option, no thanks.

First, because this is a multiplayer game, you can't fast forward time if you sleep unless every player decides to sleep at the same time. I've played games that had that and even with only 2 players, you can end up having to stand around waiting on the other player to finally be ready to sleep for quite a while sometimes. It's not enjoyable.

Second, if you aren't fast forwarding the game and want to require someone to sleep for 4 hours in the game and you have the game set to 2 hour days, that means you have sit there doing nothing for 20 real world minutes. Definitely not something the vast majority of people will want.

Now, if you just want the animation of sitting down or laying down, then that's fine. I would like having those options. But they should be cosmetic only and not required actions.

In multiplayer, anything that forces everyone to sleep at the same time usually turns into waiting around, and that's never fun. I'd be totally fine with beds or chairs just being for immersion though. They make the world feel more alive without slowing the gameplay down.

If resting can be combined with checking/adjusting your stats, maps, challenges or mapmarkers it would be not a waiting game, not even in multiplayer. Might be a good thing actualy: Rest when you need to claim challenges or use new skillpoints, sit down to read books or magazines.

Call a dev a ■■■■■■ and then ask them for features. Not sure I agree with your method, but good luck to you. Lol.

I think it would be cool to have usable chairs with sitting animations and laying down on beds/bedrolls. .. I don't think 'sleeping through the night' really fits for this game.. As someone that tries to build nice, comfortable-looking bases, it would do wonders for my immersion if I could sit down and relax after an adventure.

Functionally most early game players do “sleep” in that you hole up in an attic at night and wait until sunrise. So sleep would be great if it could speed up time. Don’t mistake me though I don’t like how Minecraft just invalidates nighttime. It should accelerate time but not skip it. And we should be black screen but be woken up by noises so if we hear a zombie we will. However it will have a bit of variance so you might wake up the second you hear a zombie or maybe you’ll sleep too deeply and not wake up until the door is almost broken.

I just want faster stamina regeneration. Let us have a reason to carry a folding chair or something so we can sit and take a break and then continue mining or cracking a safe.
