Should More Basics Be Added to List of Basic Backpack Crafting?

So, I decided to test the inability to craft more than basics in the backpack, needing a workstation instead, and was surprised to find I could craft a stone axe, but not a stone spear or stone sledgehammer or bone knife. (They must really love that club.)

I don't know. I think those are pretty basic along with wooden spike traps. Not too concerned with doors, hatches and such requiring a workbench. Makes all those stopgap temporary fight window solutions impossible until you have a bench. You have to use your head. But stone and bone stuff that can be makeshifted on the fly almost literally with "stone knives and bearskins" as Mr. Spock might say?

What do you think?

I can see it both ways. Realistically, you wouldn't need a workbench for a stone spear. I could make that right now if I wanted to and I've never been taught how to do so. At the same time, the idea behind it was probably more along the lines of weapons require a workbench and they allowed the axe to make gathering necessary wood to craft that a little bit easier, though it really isn't a big deal to get that little bit of wood without the axe.

Even so, I think if I were setting up that game option, I'd have just made it so you can craft anything primitive from the backpack.

Except the club they must absolutely adore. ;)

That's what I was thinking. I'd actually like to use that setting, but I'm not going without the bone knife, at least. It doesn't take too terribly long to unlock the workstation, but primitive stuff shouldn't require it, imo.

I can grab a stick .. if it happens to be of a decent shape, I have a club.
Versus chipping down any form of rock to a stone tool, successfully tying it to a handle so that the connection withstands impacts ... I don't need a high tech bench for that, but it'll take quite some tinkering. The club as a pocket craft makes more sense than anything else. Including the stone axe - but I assume that's there so you're not entirely effed for gathering / building.

Sorta makes sense, in a combo of game logic and RL logic. Stretchy, but real decisions often are.
