PC V3.0 Dead Hot Summer Dev Diary

Lots of issues we are working through, but that happens before every experimental. About 35 must fix bugs currently, but not all of them have to be fixed for experimental or even stable.
Its better then 36 but still.■■■■ I just need time and patiences

No one has mentioned it here recently, that we have a new owner now, so how we do things is changing. Like we actually have marketing and analytics departments. We are still in transition and trying to figure it all out.

There are other game changes. There is a cool new feature for items, but I can't talk about the details yet
Im more interested if the new company can help solve the problems that couldn't be solved for x or y reasons like biomes and ground types but thats more likely a pipe dream

Maybe having more senior devs and extra eyes could help bring back stuff that was removed via limitations and even optimization of the game more for consoles and lower end pcs

Having promotions for the game would be really cool. Maybe with other games that BI owns like DBD

Don't worry, you'll be able to buy them, in game, for a handful of bucks... :sneaky:

To be clear, Faatal said a cool new feature for items, not new items (although there are new items as well) But it sounds like he's referring to how items work in some way.
Yes, it's a new mechanic called "micro transactions": you'll be able to buy any item that you need for a small sum of real money. ;)
/jk

Maybe it's the new system Joel mentioned earlier, where you'll be able to combine items and gain XP from it. There are three new modifiers in the XML files for every station that currently lacks them. I wouldn't be surprised if they're somehow related to the new item-combining mechanic.

I really cant wait to see those

Ill buy that for a dollar

I have 2 curious questions. As Faatal posted there is a new owner. Joel spoke of a possible
alternate project, possibly involving Unreal Engine. My question is since BI has experience
with the engine DBD, and more hands on, would it be possible for Joel to negotiate a second deal
for a collaboration and human resources, to complete the other game if it still is in play? Or would
he rather go Indie again and start from there?

Collaboration? BI owns TFP and will control/assist any other games TFP creates. They could even say that TFP can't make a specific game, though that would be unlikely. The point being that there's no need to negotiate for collaboration beyond if TFP wants to try to talk BI into more employees working on their project than BI will already be providing/requiring.

No, I understand that TFP the company was bought. But unless they signed an all inclusive Intellectual Property clause,
The game was, according to Joel being done independently. For all intent, since it was being done under a
different engine, He could have also registered it under a new business name. He never said that TFP was
making another game, he said we and I, the rest was projected and surmised by the readers and viewers. If he or Richard
did ever say it on a stream, or write that TFP was going to do another game then, yeah it would be included in the purchase.

On BI's official web page they referred to the entity formerly known as TFP, and 7 days to die the game explicitly.
If Joel began building it under a new entity name, that was not a subsidiary of TFP, would it not be excluded from
the buyout. Originally they were 4dRulers, but the assets there, even though a bit dated now, are not a part of TFP.

I admit I could be wrong, I don't know what the exact agreement was. But that is what made me curious.

It is very unlikely that any new game wouldn't be part of BI now. About the only way it would be is if Joel left TFP. I really don't see him leaving and starting a new company. Besides, it was TFP employees who were working on the game. He would have needed to split it off into a new company before being bought, which although possible, isn't likely. Especially if he was going to ask BI to help with development. BI probably doesn't mention it for the same reason TFP doesn't give any details beyond that there was another game being worked on... it isn't ready to have information released on it yet.

good grief...we don't get basic communication...you think they are going to give you details about their deal? they didn't even say how much money they sold the company for.

sorry, but seriously...we are getting the mushroom treatment.

The brothers didn't finish one ■■■■ing game before selling to BI and these guys are talking bout "future projects"?...I'd be far more curious about WHEN did they start looking for a buyer?...how long were they in negotiations to sell?
Why are you so interested in all this? It's their company and they can do whatever they want. TFP doesn't have to give any details about their dealings and none of that info would change any of our lives, except yours I guess from what I'm reading.
Even if TFP is part of Behaviour Interactive, the TFP studio is still a thing and they are still working on the game (eventually with some involvement from Behaviour).
TFP have been hinting at a future game using the Unreal engine for years now so that's nothing new.

It WAS their company...and I assume they did do what they wanted...or felt that they had to.

The way the relaunch was announced, the shoddy roll out (for console), the missed deadlines and lack of communication...and then the sudden sale of the company...with a cheery video saying "now they have the resources to finish the game". These are some of the reasons why I am sooooooo curious as to when did they start shopping the company around...how long were they in negotiations? (not that I ever expect to get any answers)

According to faatal they are already seeing support from BI:

Since "we" don't have any knowledge of their deal...we really don't know who owns what IP that TFP were developing...traditional thinking would say that BI bought TFP so they very likely own said IP. What they do with that would be for them to talk about.

Maybe one of you should just ask who owns that IP now...it would save a lot of time...IF they answered.

I personally do not care about any those projects TFP were working on in the background. I only care about 7 days to die...and how much longer before Bandits and Story are finally in the game.
