Long time big fan here, I would love nothing more for the ability to revisit my old save from version 1.4. I spent 184 hours solo in survival creating a masterpiece. The thought of it being gone just sucks. Maybe a way to update or convert it back to that version just to revisit it on console would be much appreciated.

That won't be possible, unfortunately. Consoles can only play the current version of the game and there is too much changed from 1.x to 2.x to make it possible to convert saves. They've attempted save conversions in the past and it never worked. I would not recommend playing the game before it's finished with an expectation of playing for very extended amounts of time on the same save unless you're sure you can finish before the next big update. Once the game is complete, then you'll be able to do that as much as you like. That said, if you wait until 4.0 is out, you *should* be able to start a new game then and have plenty of time to play before any update breaks the save. You *might* be able to start one now and maybe not have to restart with 3.0 or 4.0 since they say they're trying to not have those break saves, but if it's important to you not to start over, I would probably wait. Or at least play shorter games where you're not working hard to create really elaborate stuff that you don't want to lose. This is a common drawback when playing a game that is still being developed and isn't complete yet.

I do understand the inability to play older versions when still in update phases. It's a huge bummer but is what it is. Thank you for the info. I will keep that in mind this time around.
