Pickaxe vs drill

Just odd, because the weighted head does nothing; the tempered blade does give 10% block damage. On iron blocks, for my steel pickaxe it's 10 more damage, for the auger it's 3. Pretty meaningless, but free damage anyway.
Unless it's changed very recently, you can't put a tempered blade on a pickaxe. I constantly try and forget that TFP don't consider a pick as bladed...

Are you using a mod or has this finally changed?

This doesn't change anything. With either set of modifications, there will be two hits on metal ore and one on non-metal ore. Differences will occur when breaking other blocks, such as doors and walls.

it also makes your tool degrade 15% slower, on top of 10% more damage

Vanilla; wouldn't test otherwise :P

The mod is a bit odd, it competes with the blade mods And the structural brace - with other blade mods you can have the brace as well. I'm not sure if it has changed lately, but at least it worked ..

The extra damage won't do anything for ore mining, as I already mentioned. Although the degradation reduction would be useful.
That depends on the settings. Not everyone plays with default 100% player block damage. Some play with more, some play with less.
And since a quality 6 steel pickaxe and quality 6 auger have variance in their block damage stats, it could mean the difference between hitting a breakpoint and not.
