Tired of crafting Legendary gear that is worse than the Tier 5 gear.

Honestly, I really wish TFP would bring back the old 600-tier quality system where repairs degraded the quality. That feeling was just so satisfying—no weapon could last forever, and you had to constantly upgrade every part to maintain its quality.

I'm not sure I agree with that. It should show the stats for the ammo type YOU have selected for it. That is what makes most sense. If the weapon stats reverted to base damage for no ammo type every time you emptied your magazine that could be a lot more confusing. Now that you understand how it works, it is a lot more consistent and clear to just have the weapon always display the damage it does based on your selected ammo type whether it is currently loaded with that ammo or not.
It would be nice if the stats reverted when unloaded then perhaps.

Parts quality was one of the better things lost. Jars are a joke compared to parts quality.

The issues regarding water tanks and temperature mechanics served as the flashpoint for this concentrated outburst. It is not that the community did not lament the loss of the weapon assembly feature; rather, when various functionalities were stripped away gradually over time, there was no unified, forceful protest against it. For us veteran players, the loss went far beyond just weapon assembly—we lost much more. It was only when the water tank and temperature systems were removed—the final straw—that the community's anger was truly ignited. This is because the features we lost were, without exception, excellent ones.

I've said it many times before.... in my opinion removing item degradation was the biggest mistake they ever made
The sheer volume of content lost in the transition from Alpha 16 to Alpha 17 was staggering. Yet, at the same time, TFP introduced so many new features that we were led to believe many of the missing elements would eventually be gradually added back in—things like weapon assembly, active skills, dynamic snow accumulation, and infinite world maps. Initially, we had no idea that these items had been permanently struck from the development roadmap; we were so captivated by the novelty of the new content that we overlooked what had been lost. By the time we finally realized the truth, the outcome had already become a fait accompli. That is the true source of our regret. Had we known from the very beginning that certain features were being completely abandoned, we would have fought to ensure they were kept.

Absolute rot, 'we' were not led to believe anything. You may have not understand that these so called 'lost features' were not coming back but if you were following the Dev diaries and streams then they were pretty clear. Stop trying to create a false narrative, and stop trying to bolster your argument by implying you're part of some wider majority with the constant use of the word 'we'.

What are you talking about? There were plenty of angry posts that began even before A17 released because the devs talked about the upcoming changes. There was no lull where people were distracted by new shiny toys so they didn’t say anything. The A16-philes have been crying nonstop about it for eight years now starting in the weeks and months leading up to the A17 release.

"Misleading"? That might be a translation error. Your response is quite hostile. Believe me, you don't need to "fit in" with us, because I cannot speak on your behalf. Personally, I regret that the developers removed certain features, but I would never attempt to mislead anyone or fabricate lies. Please watch your language. Otherwise, I will consider launching a verbal counter-attack against you—without regard for the consequences. I harbor no personal ill will toward anyone who seeks confrontation; however, I ask that you refrain from posting divisive comments again.

I regret this; certain past features were indeed exceptional—which is precisely why we miss them.

The reason item degradation was such a good feature, IMO, is that it provided continued relevance of both crafting skills and looting. Without it, once you find a Q6 item your crafting skill becomes useless (in a solo game... in multiplayer it remains useful until everyone is equipped). Same with looting.... there is almost no satisfaction looting a Q6 item if you already have one. When item degradation existed, both crafting and looting maintained value throughout you game, because you could always use backups for when your item loses its quality from too many repairs.

I get it though, people don't like the idea of eventually losing something they worked for.... I dont either. But, I believe it makes for a better game.

EDIT: Newguy realized he had AP ammo selected for the tier five gun and regular ammo for the tier six gun. It was learned that emptying a gun of ammo is not enough. The ammo type must also be selected. It appears that TFP did in fact fix the problem with higher tier weapons having worse stats than lower tier weapons if the same type.
Yes, ammo type is a perennial issue. The funny thing is, the game has a hint that modifications aren't taken into account when comparing weapons, but it doesn't say anything about ammo, and it does.
