Miner gloves not giving ore block damage bonus at all.

Level 5 Miner Gloves state that they should be giving an additional 25% Ore Block Damage. They are giving 0%. Mining stone with an auger without the gloves on, it does 101 damage per hit. Wearing the gloves does the same 101 damage per hit. Hitting stone with a Level 6 Stone Axe does 53 damage with or without the gloves on. I've seen reports of this issue dating back to mid 2024.

Although the wiki's seem to indicate increases in tool block damage, if it is indeed tool block damage against ores, then stone is not a valid test in this OP or the thread from 2024.

Still, it could be said that any kind of tool block damage assigned might equally damage "node" blocks regardless whether they're ores or stone or, even, clay. I consider all those activities mining, though the game appears to consider collecting stone and clay harvesting or something or nothing else. (Must test that theory.) Imagine my surprise, then, when I go out to "mine" materials for base building and the activity doesn't qualify as a mining operation and my avatar is panting like a dog. Coffee helps, but not much.

The game has .. both. Miner69er boosts all "harvesting tool" block damage (axes, pickaxes, shovels) - be it on stone, iron, wood, dirt or any of the derivatives. Couple things gives specific buffs against Ores, which are the "natural, minable" resources like lead and shale.

In the general 7dtd jargon, "mining" refers to destroying terrain to obtain resources. Terrain, not cars or i-beams. The old boulders counted as well.

The Preacher’s Gloves also don’t give 60% damage, at least on the highest difficulty level. I’m not sure if it matters I checked, and they give around 20%. I don’t know where those numbers came from, but at least the placebo worked on me.

That's a common weirdness of the design. Most of the percentage increases are additive, even the effect from mods and weapon quality.
So, a quality 1 sniper will do, say, a 100 damage. They get +10% per quality level, so a Q6 will do 150% = 150.
Add a max weapon skill to increase that by 50%, you get 200% => 200 damage.
Add 4 mods at 10% each, you get 240% = 240.
Add preacher gloves for 60% and you get 300% = 300.

But now, if you compare "without gloves" to "with gloves", you have 300/240 = 125%.
It is (likely) correct, just quite misleading.

As I said in my OP, I was testing on stone. I had no idea that would only apply to ores and not all mining like Miner 69er. Had I known it was ore only I wouldn't have wasted time and mats crafting those gloves.

Well, now you know, great :)

...

But you did write "Ore Block" twice just to make the post ... :D
