PC Strength of Different Shape of blocks

I looked online and could not find the answer I am looking for.

If you have a pole in steel, will it be the same strength of support as full block of steel? So could I use poles instead of blocks as support to hold up some of my base?

It will. Build it, hit it with your fist, and see its durability—it'll be the same as a cube's.

There are only a few forms with reduced durability, but their upgrade costs are also reduced.

Outside of one or two anomalies (IIRC, like sheets), block shape does not affect Block HP. A full block and a pole will have the same HP pool.

The stuff you regularly build with is the same all around; sheets are basically one-shot (it's a zombie hideout -block).
Most of the "rubble" -shape blocks are weaker - whenever there's a hole in a wall or a ceiling, those blocks are usually really weak. Not sure if you can place them, but beware either way.

There are a variety of shapes that aren't full health, but not too many overall. If you're concerned, place the block and make it wood and check the max durability by holding a repair tool after hitting it one time with something that doesn't do enough damage to destroy it in one hit. Wood is easy enough to get, so it won't be much of a waste to test. If it's the same durability in wood as a full block, that'll be true with all materials.
