We are a group of players on a custom cross-play server. Everything works perfectly and it's a wonderful game. But we're wondering if we're doing something wrong. The level 6 POIs are always the same, there are maybe ten of them (we've visited all the vendors several times).... As for longevity, you'll understand that after 20 nights of always doing the same missions, the game gets boring.... I often see buildings with the classic crates at the end of a POI but we've never seen a related mission... but there are so many buildings that have them... what should we do? Do we make buildings without POIs just randomly? Could we upload custom POIs to our server? But would they also work on consoles? Are we doing something wrong? Because this way the game becomes really short and above all monotonous.... where are we going wrong? Thanks!

There are a limited number of high tier POI. That will always be the case, though they do add new POI regularly. It just takes a really long time to create a large POI. Don't forget that the game is designed to be replayed many times. Once you reach a point where you feel you're done, don't be afraid to start over. This isn't like other games where you just keep going forever. New maps will have POI placed in different locations, including possibly having POI that aren't on your current map.

Keep in mind that there is a problem right now with RWG maps, where certain tiles aren't being placed, which prevents certain POI from being placed. So it isn't possible to get some of the higher tier POI to be placed with RWG at this time. That will hopefully be fixed somewhat soon. Since you're using a server, you can manually edit the prefabs.xml file for a map or use the World Editor and change some POI from one to another to add in some of the missing POI if you want, but that does take some time and requires a little understanding of how to edit maps. I'd recommend making a backup of your map before trying to edit anything in case you mess something up. This should be done before starting a new game rather than in the middle of a game, though you can do chunk resets near the POI you've made changes to in order to make the changes appear in your current save. You can also make a map with a third party app like Teragon, which can place all of the POI even though RWG is currently having problems. But even with RWG fixed or when using Teragon, you're not guaranteed to get every POI on every map, so new maps will still offer different POI. And there are still a limited number of higher tier POI in vanilla, so you're going to always reach a point where you're doing the same small number of tier 5 POI in the late game if you decide to keep doing quests.

As far as using custom POI, you can do so even with console since you're hosting it from a server. However, there are issues when using custom POI that are not installed on the client, regardless if the client is PC or console. The most significant issue is that buttons and key racks and other triggers will not work for a player who doesn't install the custom POI on their computer (and console players can't do so). This means that they'll have to break open doors in order to get through ones that use buttons or key racks, and if zombies are supposed to spawn after using the button or key rack, they'll have to destroy the door frame as well or else destroy the button or key rack in order to spawn those zombies. If you have a PC player always there with the console players, the PC can have the POI installed locally and they can use the buttons or key racks for the console players, but if the console players are doing stuff on their own, they have to be willing to break doors or buttons or key racks in order to get through the POI and to spawn groups of zombies that require using those buttons or key racks. If they don't want to do that, then using custom POI is probably not a good option. That being said, not all custom POI use buttons or triggers and you could pick ones that don't, though most do and it will take time to find ones that don't.

Another issue is that they won't see the POI until they get close to them because the imposters won't be installed on the clients. This isn't critical, but it does look odd to have an empty space in the distance while the vanilla POI are showing up.

There are some other issues as well, but they are normally not ones you have to worry about. For example, you won't be able to teleport to a POI that isn't installed locally.

I actually wouldn't mind seeing new buildings, using modern house/building construction blueprints from 2020s, instead of... 1970s construction blueprints? I mean come on! Unless they plan to make a 7 Days to Die 2 game in the future, with more modern everything? Maybe put voxel gameing to rest and go with high fidelity graphics, like Dying Light 2.

Great, so we can upload custom POIs to the server, so PC players can have them locally, so we can do a lot of new missions. Do I understand this correctly?

Console players, and PC players without the POI's loaded in their client will have issues with that map.

You can, yes. However, there are certain issues like I had mentioned. The most notable one being the inability to use buttons and key racks when you don't have it installed locally. Not seeing a POI in the distance is not that big of a problem. Other things like teleporting to it aren't what you normally are doing anyhow, so have little impact. In the end, as long as you are willing to accept the issues, you can absolutely play the game using custom POI. But it would be wise for a server, especially a crossplay server, to be very clear in the description that it is using custom POI and then explain the issues players who don't have it installed locally (such as console players) will have so they understand what to expect.
