Trigger points and spawners

I especially love when you creep up and once you get to about within 2 feet of where sleeping Zeds spawn, they magically appear "right" in front of you!

Once you back away, they disappear again! 👎
 
Whoever thought trigger points and spawners was a good idea should be fired. Absolutely ruined any ability for stealth play.

I think that's an extreme take. Those are good features to have added. I would say those features are overused and that has had an effect on stealth play, but it has not ruined stealth play.

I think Stealth is noticeably improved over the ancient versions. Stealth in A16, for instance, was too easy and too bare-bones. I would single out an exception of the version when the new armors were introduced and the Assassin armor was wildly overpowered.

For me the issue is having so many trigger rooms and trickle spawners on top of having had stealth generally nerfed almost into uselessness.

Assassin gear was overpowered (but fun! LOL) when it was introduced, but rather than balancing it and the broader stealth mechanic things were changed to the opposite extreme. I'm much less stealthy now even with full level 6 Assassin gear and all stealth perks maxed than I was in A20 military armour (never mind the old ghillie suit): I can be in pitch darkness, with no light sources and a solid wall between me and the zombies, and if I move even a tiny bit they aggro again. That is not stealth.

I want to be able to play pure steatlh all the way to endgame (excluding horde nights, obviously). I used to be able to do that, but it's just not possible any more and that's made the gameplay a lot less enjoyable for me.

(And yes, I can use mods or play older versions, and I do one or both of those most of the time now. It would just be nice for pure stealth to be viable again in current vanilla.)
 
It's a love hate relationship as I like how it increased performance and adds unpredictability. I dislike how they magically appear if you go slightly off script in your POI exploring and how stealth is car less valuable.
The tradeoff for stealth should be your slower progression.

I agree with this. I like the way they keep spawning in as it can really increase the challenge of an area, but when you're in a spot where you see them appearing out of thin air, it really looks bad. A good example is the quarry. Stand next to the green storage crate with the hole in the side of it in the main quarry area and you can sit and watch them spawning out of thin air on both sides of the crate. It wasn't bad for the other places that spawned in that way since they were all away from where I was and so I saw them coming towards me but couldn't see them spawning. But they didn't start spawning at the storage crate until I was standing right at the hole looking in. That just looks really bad.

However, I do generally like the new spawn mechanics. I just wish they'd put those in places where you are less likely to see them spawning... or at least start them spawning from a greater distance from the player so you aren't too close.
 
I want to see these roaming zombies they touted. That would be nice. A zombie patrolling the living room instead of hiding in a bookshelf.
