I want to say about night graphic......
Day light is no problem.
But Night gaming is horrible.

1. too blight
2. Cheap sky
3. Too large moon
4. Looks many white like noise in game
5. There is no darkness in outside world. Most of Forest

Conclude: NO VISUALLY SCARY at NIGHT

7DTD need improve this visual like Dying light

read this and see if it helps,

and there is a mod for darker nights on nexus I think if you prefer

Let me know if it helps

That post is not a mod it is something you can do directly, and won't break the game.
Takes about a minute, to type it, and you are done for that play through.
Only option for now is to manually do it, or add a mod. I do it when I start a game, and it
stays until I log off. If you really want some freaky friday action. then

F1 type
Weather fog .65 to .8 your choice
Weather fogcolor 0 0 0
Weather clouds .4

First you are welcome,
Next Faatal made an adjustment, where setting the lighting level to 0, darkens it a bit more.
Will they make it darker than that, probably not. Because for every person that likes it dark
another likes it light.
So he tried to find a happy medium point.

I just got use to setting mine at the beginning of the game.

Based on your screenshot, it looks like you're using default brightness. Set brightness to less than 50% (0% for the darkest). This will only change the brightness at night and will not affect daytime brightness. For some people, it's still not dark enough, but I think it looks good. It's still dark enough to need a light to see very well when indoors (as long as your monitor brightness isn't high). Outside is also darker, but not really dark. It's still not bad, though. It's about normal for being in the country on a night that has a moon.

In any case, like 4sheetzngeegles said, it's not likely they'll reduce brightness more than what 0% does. For more, you'd need to use a mod or try adjusting weather as he showed. But even if it's not likely that they'll change it, you can still ask for changes, of course.

Agree with you - nights must be way darker than they are now
For me - the best night is pitch black

I do like Dying Light at night, that is why I set mine as I do. The main part that makes the
biggest difference is the fog color. It is defaulted to a gray tint, and starts off at .17 so
it appears light. Just setting it to 0 0 0 makes an instant diff, and increasing the intensity
shortens the distance that can be viewed.

But I also play at default 0 with no adjustments, like Riamus posted, it depends on my
playthrough, and what I want to accomplish at that time.

Maybe a tut added below would make it, not feel so out of reach. An example just upping
the snow particles and setting fog to 0, allows it to contrast more. That is basically 1 number
in one line change that is permanent. and typing 1 line for ten seconds for instant customization.

It would be very lovely if we had more variation in nights with full, quarter, half moons as a baseline and accompanying light levels. You could have full and half be more common with quarter moons being less common. I generally dislike how dark Dying Light's nights are, but do think that on occasion it adds some spice to the game.

It's there but it's not. There are 7 phases to the moon, if you load a temporary Nav world
and adjust the time, kind of fast forwarding through the days, it is easier to see. But
also if you go back to some of the older alphas as a reference point, it shows that the
moon is a lot closer now. That is another part of the reason for more brightness.

Plus the moon is pure white not off white, the highest intensity light, vs a soft blue hue.
In Unity pure white even with placed blocks can sometimes be intense.

But I agree, It would be a nice addition, , to adjust the distance and intensity for the phases
in the menu.

For now I just mod it.

I’m not saying the OP doesn’t have a point. However, the visual comparison in the top post should be taken with a grain of salt. The first screenshot is from V1.0. The second is from Alpha 19, and the third is much older than that. We’re on V2.4 now, and these no longer represent how the game looks.

Also nights in Dying Light are way more dangerous because of volatiles patrolling the areas! Aslo there are much more zombies in the streets unlike empty streets of 7 days
This gives u a risk to scavange at night
In addition - it would be nice to see config option for game server/world to choose what type of night brightness u could set for the playthrough!
For example bright vanilla one, middle and realistic pitch black

This just picked from google image, but even v2.0, blight.

I didnt saw a difference between 1.0 and 2.0 graphics except changed tree models

You can mod that, but you said you don't want a mod. They might be able to do it
if the screen overlay or LUT is still there. But it stopped being used officially a while
back. This is only if, you decide to try modding for your self, it might be accomplished
by setting the ambient gradient to a dark amber, increasing the fog intensity to approx
.6 and setting the fog color to 0 0 0. So up close it would have that fiery tint and the close
background would fade to black.
