Unable to Repair Limbs with Plaster Cast or Splint

My partner, our group's medic, tried to repair peoples' broken limbs with splints and plaster casts, but sometimes she is unable, with the game showing her our hit points to four decimal places and being told, "You cannot use that at this time." It does not appear to be linked to biome or biome progression.

No logs available, I'm sorry.

A log from someone seeing this would be helpful. There could be a variety of causes and without a log, determining the cause may not be possible unless it's easily reproducible by everyone.

Although the number thing is a bit weird, in vanilla this is working as intended. Casts/splints are applying to clients, hosts -> clients and clients -> hosts. Seems to be a mod issue, as everyone that's reported it has had mods. This is why it's important to check issues like this without mods before reporting.

That would be the case, but people without mods also have this problem.

Saw a post on Reddit, person playing vanilla, no mods, same issue here. I've run into it myself as well, definitely a bug.

I've asked them to come here and post their logs. In the meantime, I don't think it's fair to discount this issue as "not a bug" just because some folks have mods. Sure, mods can cause issues, but that doesn't mean everyone experiencing it is using the same mods.

Maybe consider moving this thread to "Needs more info?"

That's not really a good place for it if they've tested it on vanilla and it works normally. If anything, "Cannot be Reproduced" might be the better spot since it is technically still a bug, even if the bug is in a mod and not vanilla. But it's really an either/or situation for that. It is fine here as well.

Now, if someone can show that it happens in vanilla with no mods installed, showing their log where it happens, then they would probably look into it again. Expecting them to try to track down why a specific mod (or even multiple different mods) are having problems is a bit much. It sounds like they tested it on vanilla and it worked, and the info posted was with mods installed, so that's the likely reason for the problem. Also, I wouldn't trust someone on reddit who says they aren't using mods. First, it's reddit. Second, I've seen a lot of times even here where people say they aren't using mods and yet when they finally post a log, it clearly shows mods are installed. Too many people think that uninstalling and reinstalling the game will remove mods.

I suppose that's a fair point. But mods or not, it's certainly still an odd bug.

I was able to finally get the cast to work by spamming the alt-use button to apply it to my friend. It's just annoying not to have it work when it's initially supposed to. Plus those weird numbers appearing when looking at other players.

If there is a clear issue where we would need to add support for modding then sure, but if a mod breaks the ability to use splints/casts due to an error in the mod, then it's not a game bug and should be brought to the mod creator's attention. The numbers being displayed is already logged as an issue though. If someone can show it happens in vanilla with proof that it's vanilla, it'll be looked into again (or if one of us runs across it naturally), but I ran checks and it works fine.

I just created this account to try and help. I play vanilla, no mods, no addons, no external stuff, no adjusting files. Nothing. I just turn on steam and click continue.

I play with 3 other people and we had this issue pop up yesterday. I have rank 1 physician and tried to used a splint on a teammate and it wouldn't work. I can use bandages like normal so it's not a completely blocked interaction. The splints wont work on sprains.

I see you say something about needing a log. How do I get this log that you need?

There's some pinned information on logs, but if you hit F1 while in the game anywhere look at the top right corner and find the open logs button.

Would need to have one from whoever the host is, or from the server if it's a dedicated server.

Okay here is the log from just now. Around 18:15 in the log time on today's date, my friend jumped off a building and got a sprain. I tried to splint it multiple times and it wouldn't work. I tried crouching, from behind, while he was standing on stairs, holding the button down, nothing worked. I convinced him to jump off again and it advanced to a full break, I also jumped and got a break. I was able to splint both him and I at this point.

Please let me know if I can provide further information on this.

Thanks. Hm. I tried back and forth with sprains and was able to cure them, I suppose one more piece of info if you don't mind next time you two are playing together. Hit F11 while in the game together (both of you) and check this box (save perks, etc)1761003205292.png

That will put a CSV file in your screenshots folder (click ok, don't need to type anything), same location as your logs folder (well not directly in the logs folder, \AppData\Roaming\7DaysToDie\Screenshots). It'll look like this

Okay I have done so. Just to clarify, I am the host.

(By the way it says this is not an allowed extension when I try to attach the file, so if it doesn't work, please let me know how to get it to you.)

EDIT: Yeah it will not attach the .csv file. How do I provide it?
