Why does 7dtd still have no end game content?

Honestly i am fine with everything that adds additional challenge late game.

As long as they keep the ability to mod out "Resident Evil" Zombies, they can add to anyone hearts content.

Ofcourse it would be better with a smart/dumb zombie toggle, but I digress.

Yes, but, why? Why insist on an END GAME? It's too much fun to start a new game, a new map! I really appreciate using mods to insert POIs I don't know, or even different game mechanics and total overhauls. Why expect a game that already gives us so much to do something so many other games do? This game is not about reaching the end and winning. It's about surviving until you feel like a god, then doing it all over again. Well, at least that's what it's about for me. Everyone else will have a different take, but I've never expected 7 Days to be like other games since the very first time I played it and realized how different it was. And, back then, it was brutal, raw, crazy and terrifying. It's refined itself and, God love it, it's growing into something amazing. Again I say, make it smooth, stable, a perfect platform for those who wish to use that platform to create their own version (mods) that others may also enjoy.

And it´s even more fun if you need to survive longer to become like a god. No one stops you from starting over again whenever you feel if they actually add more challenge for the late game. I also start over when i am too overpowered. But i know that the journey can be longer to get there and still be super fun from playing overhaulmods that add more challenging late game that lasts longer. Making stronger zombie types for late game doesn´t stand in the way of making the game smooth and stable. Adding harder tiers than the blue and orange ones isn´t something that can be done relativ easily.

Would love to see some end game content not centered around tougher enemies but objective based.

Finding and crafting a cure for the virus would be cool. Get a message from a trader that rumor of a cure is located in a T6 POI.

After clearing out the POI, obtain instructions for crafting the cure. Craft it then proceed to clearing out each biome until all Zeds are killed or cured. If cured, no more respawning.

I too would like this better than a Giant Boss form of Z. Not sure 100% if anything is even needed as the game is right now but if a story mode is added this would be cool imo. Good way to end the story.

Those are cool ideas! I hope someone does something similar either in base game or a mod, but, preferably a mod. Then, we could have lots of different end game scenarios!

Maybe it´s still in Development ?
Well, to be totally honest, OP is also complaining about the long time it's taking to deliver each new version.
That's an understandable complaint. However, I disagree on the fact that's some sort of betrayal of the player base.

They're doing the best they can with the resources they have while having to both improve the game and fix and rewrite old code that has accumulated over the years. Some will say it's a fault of their own making, but we have to remember that this game has been developed with completely creative freedom from the founders. That is a great PLUS in my book, but I can also understand that being creative means also a lot of trial and error on the long run, hence the extension of development time tenfold.

I fanboy for the game, but I'm not blind to how long the updates take. Yeah, the waiting sucks.. and at the end of it all, I'll surely still end up modding things until the struggle feels just right.

But in the end that's okay with me, I ended up here in part because of being underwhelmed by AAA titles with a handful of flashy lights designed to hold your attention for 10-40 hours before you've seen everything it has to offer. I have 800 hours in on this game now and granted, that's across many alphas and many years now, but there's enough of a game, I'm still coming back.

The whole process hasn't been done like a AAA producer would do things, and I while I understand in part why some people are upset by that-
Personally, I think it's a good thing.

Can you imagine what this game would look like if a greedy publisher like EA got their grubby little mitts on it? 😵

It would be shiny and slick, and there wouldn't be enough substance there to even bother discussing likes and dislikes about it.

I've enjoyed a AAA game here and there over the years, but not a single one of them ever grabbed my interest long term. At this point I don't bother. TFP have a plethora of faults as a developer, but they've got heart and that's the most important thing to me.

@meganoth So they designed the level cap in a way that we can get OP at not even a third of the level cap and then wondered when players want more challenge? Who would have thought.

What is the alternative if they don't suddenly want to extend the game (which costs time and money) ?
Make progression stop at lvl 60 or 80 and deny everyone who wants to play on their regular dose of another perk point to distribute? Sure, that is exactly what EA for example would probably do because it would generate less people who misunderstand this as a sign of the game being longer, ergo less complaints in sum. It would be the psychologically better move, while objectively not in the players interest (at least the ones who actually want to play on)

Similarily they should probably hard-lock the game at max 8 players, so people don't get the impression that more than 8 is in any way supported. Psychologically that would have been better as it also doesn't generate unfounded expectations, but objectively would not be in the players interest, right?
