Music To Play To

Not meaning to go overboard but I like creep factor and adrenaline rush so here is what I use.

Entering the game - Alternating Sesame street and 28 days later

Trader and background music
Rekt Wabash cannonball instrumental ### Forest Midis from original Ultima Online
Jen Maneater ### Burnt Forest Phantasm by day Exorcist at night
Bob Duelin Banjos ### Desert Ennio Morricone Western medley including God Bad and The Ugly
Hugh Stairway to Heaven Instrumental ### Snowy Forest Led Zeppelin - Kashmir
Joel Radioactive Imagin Dragons ### Wasteland Phantasm by day Exorcist at night

All nights except forest share Exorcist theme

Horde night and screamer horde Alternating between Hall of the mountain king,
Carmina Burana O'Fortuna, Ride of the Valkyries, and "November rain from the breakaway at the end".

When Entities aware or I am spotted spotted - Jaws opening theme, Ah Ah Ah from the immigrant song
Death scene Immigrant Song Led Zepplin

All are midis that I have been adjusting in fruity loops, and converted to MP3 with SoundForge then manually
replacing in game.

Some movie sound effects bytes Like resident evil and American Werewolf in London, predator, Friday the 13th,
and a few sound bytes from The original Lo Wang Shadow Warrior. Whispers And sound quote from Pitch Black
"Back to the ship, huh? Just huddle together, until the lights burn out? 'Til you can't see what's eating you? Is that the big plan?"
I like the quotes to come up when jacked up things happen.

That's a lot of dedication friend. 😉

I think the TFP soundtrack is ok, but it doesn't quite set the mood for me and with
fruity loops I can screw around with tempo and different instruments. Anything that
has to do with environment I mess with regularly.

This gave me an idea. Robotic Drone speaker mod.

Basically you have a folder in Users\7DaysToDie\MP3 that you can put your digital music in. Then when you talk to your robotic drone, you have the options of:

Speakers:

Play
Stop
Volume + -
Shuffle
Repeat

I realize you can just have your media player running while in game {which II do some times}, but it still would be kind cool anyway.

Well, in that case I'd prefer if they added a craftable radio that when built would play all your favorite songs. :)

Yeah I thought that too, but in the case of not having a walkman. The Robotic Drone is your best bet for having music travel with you.

The walkman is also not a bad idea either. Say you find it in loot - Craft it - or buy it, you can have the music travel with you, and of course having a radial menu to choose the way you want to listen to your music. You can even add AA batteries to the game that can be bought at a trader for a small price or loot it or craft it as well as recharge them. Having a bar like the Food and Water showing the battery life. just to make it more realistic I guess.

I just spent almost 14,000 dukes for the drone, so that is still fresh in my mind as another use for it. I got the drone mainly for more storage slots and I had the barter perk at max of five points, Sugar Butts and Pumpkin Cheesecake. and still 14,000 dukes for it. There is no easy way to get it I guess.

What you describe would fit more a mod for the game, rather than being something they could easily add to vanilla.

I have two reasons why I'd like the radio idea more:
  1. When I go around looting and exploring I don't want background music playing because I can't hear when I'm ambushed by zombies
  2. If TFP would ever consider this idea, adding a radio doesn't require them to add any new loot into the loot-tables (batteries and such) because all the ingredients could be stuff that is already in the game (e.g.: car battery, electronic components...).
Regardless, TFP have already their hands full, so we need someone to create a mod on this, and we'd be happy, right? ;)

Your are very right, and I can also see this as only a mod. I suppose the music would go in a folder in a mod directory.

As far as looting or keeping your ears listening for zombies approaching. You just turn the player off in the walkman settings or lower the volume.

If I were to pick a selection of music that also keeps me alert, I would probably choose Techno. For some reason as a rock guy, I have got into EDM, such as trance and techno, don't know why. Techno would get you through mining, wrenching or base building keeping the monotony of some of these tasks less tedious without taking a lot of your attention. I had Techno in my truck to listen to and it does not distract me.

It would be cool to have the portable radio with you, like when your crafting or tending to your forges in your base. The FP have a lot of retro things in their POIs, so It would be cool to have an an old retro Kenwood analog receiver and add speakers to wherever you want via the wire tool and relays where needed. Sounds cool to me.

A lot of the time I have winamp playing music when I am in game. The bummer of that is you have to all-tab to adjust winamp.

I like your thought, but def a potential mod, RCIAA potential. If it were made a standard of the game by their direct code
someone will find something. They always do.

That is why I just replace the existing situational files, so that it follows the same accompanying tone or events
and because it has the in game volume control already. Less overhead, and becomes a drag and drop.
The midi allows me to make a twisted version of an instrumental, add filters, and make it deranged like the waste
land music box or the baby crying. I started out using classical, but it kept putting me to sleep.
