Mac Rust launches 7 Days to Die on Mac instead of Rust

I’m having a very strange issue on Macbook air.
When I try to launch Rust from Steam, instead of Rust starting, 7 Days to Die launches.
Not really sure if this was the right place to post about this issue but pls help :<

Here’s what I’ve already tried:

- Uninstalled and reinstalled Rust and 7d2d

- Verified game files integrity through Steam and deleted the local files of each games (including manifest)

- Rebuilt Steam library

- Reinstalled Steam completely

- Checked that Rust.app is correct (its either launching from steam or desktop app, still opens 7dtd)

- used terminal to check if I could reach out to the game↓

Despite all of this, launching Rust from Steam still starts 7 Days to Die.

Has anyone experienced the same problem, or knows a workaround? Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks.
 
I have never seen this issue myself.

  • Does this only occur with Rust or are other games in your library also seeing the same thing?
  • Verify that you are clicking on Rust and not having an issue where your mouse is scrolling onto another game instead (indicating a mouse issue, not a steam issue).
  • Clear steam download cache (can remove any bad files you might have - not sure if this would be causing your issue, but easy to do and removes this as something to try)
  • Have you tried restarting your computer? (strangely this seems to help a lot to fix issues)
  • If you create desktop launchers through steam for Rust, does it point towards the Rust ID or does it point to 7 Days to Die?

I don't have Rust so I used another game as an example.
 
This may sound like a sacrilege here in this forum, but you should deinstall 7days :cool: . And then try to start rust. Obviously without 7days on the PC steam can't start 7days so it will most likely print an error message. Read that error message, try to understand it or put it into google and you probably will know more.
