An optional career mode to reduce the grind

i love the biome progression system. i think it's great way to get newer players adjusted to the game and i do enjoy doing it. however, kind of like the badges, i think it might be cool to have a persistent biome badge that you can take between servers. it could be a choice and not forced, once you achieve them for the first time. most likely would be a server side setting to allow or not allow on the online game.

thoughts? improvements?

If you don't want to deal with the biome hazards, just disable them. You'd be doing the same thing by transferring badges between games anyhow.
 
Didn't TFP say they were working on a way to transfer levelled characters between servers? I know I don't see a reason to bother with online play with randoms. You spawn in at level 1 while everyone else is off in higher loot stage/more dangerous biomes doing their thing and rarely even say Hi.

It depends on the players of the server. Sometimes at the beginning of the game they would throw me weapons and food and water. Sometimes I would give something to newbies myself.

Of course they are. That doesn't change that you originally said between servers, which means more than one, and then says on the same server, which is not more than one.

Anyhow, transferring a badge it's the same as not doing biome hazards. And in any case, the real question is whether or not they will ever let you transfer your character between saves. If they do, that will include badges. They aren't going to do just badges. That wouldn't be worth the time.

perhaps you should show me exactly what quote you are talking about.
 
I just did. I quoted both in the reply you just quoted.
you misunderstand. i mean that on a server, both sets of players would have the choice. so some players could have achieved the badges while others could choose to start over, even if they've already achieved the badges.

it's very simple.

this is also great if you play on multiple online servers in the same server group.

lets say they have 3 servers. you like to play on all 3 servers. if you get the badges in one of the servers, you could transfer that to the other servers.

those same servers would have the ability to have both experiences available.

There are some server side mods that support this.
