PC Murky Water

I know that jars are no longer available (for some reason) in the later versions of the game such as the one I am playing - 1.3. So is there a way to use water from a river or lake at all?

I am having a hard time walking all over the place looking for murky water, and I do not have a bike yet either. I would rather be building my temporary base for bloodmoon.

You will want to make a Dew Collector first. It will passively collect water for you. It's slow, but you can put mods in that will make it more efficient. There is also a helmet mod that allows you to drink straight from water sources without getting disentary.

As mentioned, build one or more dew collectors. They are easy to build on day 1. Once you can afford the mods for them, they make a lot of water. If you aren't doing a ton of crafting that requires a lot of glue, you can usually get by with 1-2 per player with mods installed in them.

Other than that, you can always drink from a water source directly. Use open hands (no weapon, tool, etc. equipped) and you will see it tell you to press E to drink (or another key/button depending on your controls). You need to not be moving and the water needs to be at least about 1/2 meter deep or so. You might get dysentery if you don't have the helmet mod or don't use a vitamin first, but that isn't the end of the world. That only helps for drinking. It won't help for cooking or crafting.

Water really isn't hard to find. Almost every residence has at least one toilet that has a good chance of having murky water, and there are often coffee machines that can have it. A lot of businesses also have multiple toilets, water fountains (bubblers), drink stations, etc. that can all have murky water or other drinks.

So is there a way to use water from a river or lake at all?
2 answers, neither said the "no"; like they're allergic to it. So, here:
No. Can't take it with you to make glue or drink.

Can drink it as is, or through a RNG filter mod.
If you find the filter, make a bucket and grab some water, drop it on the ground in your kitchen for free drinks.

You can drink directly from a water source and you will drink Murky Water. As others have pointed out, look to create a Dew Collector plus you're likely to find murky water in loot by raiding POIs, perhaps as part of quests from the trader. If you go the trader route, you'll earn money that can be used to buy you drinks and tie you over, if needed.

With a modlet, you can have other options for water, but you would have to be on a PC.

You can't use water from a river or lake except to drink it. If you drink it you need to have the water purifier mod that you put into your helmet. If you don't have that mod you're going to catch dysentery.

Water isn't that hard to find. Check toilets, water dispensers, soda dispensers, coffee machines. If you find a liquor store, the cases usually have a bottle of murky water in it. I don't have problems with water starting out. The hardware store has lots of toilets and they all have a good chance of giving you some water. A 9 mm too.

Make the dew collector as soon as you can. There's two mods you get very quickly one is a tarp and the other one is a gatherer. One halves the time it takes to create a glass of water and the other one doubles the output. Later on you can get the water filter on and have pure water that you can drink.

Only going to the first half of the liquor store starting out and I think there's a dog in the back so be ready. It's worth killing because there's another room that has more liquor cases in it. The second half is fairly high level and not a good idea at the beginning.

Thanks for the replies guys. I have used murky water without a cooking pot for a couple of days, and out of about 8 jars of it, I did not get dysentery. May be luck or the fun pimps lowered the chances, I don't know.

What figures is I payed 600 for a pot, and 10 hours later I found one in a small store sitting on top of a stove. I looked to sell the other one for half the price 300 and I found out it is worth 4 dukes.

I will look to the dew collector first. Thanks again guys.

Since you have two now, an option if you choose to. Keeping one in your backpack
would allow you to boil water, that you find in pois along the way, while you are clearing
another poi. If you do make the campfire a bit away from the poi you are doing. This
can help make sure you have a ready supply, as you move about, until you have a constant source.

Not allergic. I figured my answer was fine enough.

It happens that way a lot. I've found a pot within minutes of buying one. Kind of a pain, but at the same time, I always make three campfires, so it doesn't matter much to me.

Yep. Mine even stated that it didn't help for cooking or crafting.

I usually have 2, one for food and one for water. But I refuse to buy a cooking pot. If I don't find one, I'll craft one (last game I started I had 3 grills and only 1 pot, which is I think the first time I've ever seen more grills than pots.)

Hmm... I never thought about making multiple campfires in my castle. I always just waited patiently for everything to cook. 😄😄
The only real reason I do it is because I like having three crates for cooking... raw food, cooked food, and drinks. I put the campfires on top, so three crates = three campfires. Though they are useful when I feel like cooking a lot of stuff at once.

I've found so many doggone pots, I scrap them to iron. Maybe I'm playing on easy. 🤷

Many commercial POIs and houses will have murky water. Especially in bathrooms. The Dew Collector is an early game trap IMO and generally not that important. You will find plenty of water just going through POIs and boiling it.

There are a lot of them, but finding them in the first couple of days is when RNG kicks in. After a week or two, you should have easily found multiple pots. But finding one before you have no coffee but to drink murky water is the trick. You usually will, but sometimes it doesn't work out that way.

Oh, I did, for sure. I drank so much I got the little dookie symbol. I said, "is that a tuurd?!?"

I do have 3 campfires in my main base. But that is usually up to 10 weeks in the game. I just started and only just about 3 days in game time right now.

I drank out of a canal or something and did not dysentery for the 9th or 10th time, good luck I guess. Thank you Riamus. for that idea.

Having an extra pot while exploring to be able to cook some water wherever I need some water. Is a good Idea.

I thought there would be more murky water in POIs myself but really not so much as I thought there would be. A few toilets, water coolers and refrigerator has been the best place, as it always was in early alphas as well. But I cannot find as many due to my massive 13K map I have to travel really far to find them and In which during my search I become more dehydrated.
