Loot Stage Maxed?

I was seeing the snow cap last night and wasn't seeing one for the desert. Either the visual display isn't working, it you do reach snow cap before desert, which wouldn't be right. And I only have the snow badge. I was seeing that effect while wasting a ton of time trying to find mutated zombies for the wasteland badge.

The display doesn't seem as reliable as one would hope; I remember it going on and off traveling around in snow. Didn't think much about it.
For the "when you cap them", from the data I saw last time digging in there, I'm pretty convinced that you will cap snow earlier than desert in practically all cases.

POIs might effect things, though, haven't really looked - so maybe in a POI in desert you're already capped, while not in non-POI snow.
 
Remember that the biomes have a lootstage modifier that includes both a multiplier and an added bonus.

When they did V2.0 internally, they removed those bonuses so the loot caps were based on those. Feedback from experimental, those bonuses were re-added but the caps were not modified. I expect we will see loot cap modifications now with the bonuses brought back.

Personally, I am not seeing that issue, but I added a modlet where I changed the biome loot stage bonuses (made them less). BF and desert just have a small flat bonus added, while snow and wasteland I changed them to 0.5 and 1 for the multiplying bonus.

That.. shouldn't math out like that? You've made the multipliers relatively Larger between desert and snow; from 2.0 and 2.5 to 1.0 and 1.5. Without touching anything else, that'd increase the relative growth of snow loot stage, no?

Currently I have all the biome badges and living in the Wasteland. I am also close to Day 70 (I believe) so it would be hard for me now to go back and see how my values affect the current loot stage caps.

If I think about it, I can create a copy of my current game save and then fly around quickly to the other biomes to see if the caps are being affected (so I don't mess up my current playthrough). Note, those initial values I did were just estimates to see how they affect my gameplay. I expect in the next one I will tweak them some more as I want to slow down progression
 
The loot cap display still seems like it might be broken. In 2.1, I noticed that I was capped in the snow and not only was I not capped in the desert, but I also wasn't capped in the forest. At least based on that icon. That just feels wrong to me. That was before I completed the wasteland biome badge. I didn't look to see if the snow cap icon was removed after doing that due to the loot cap increase for completing it, but it probably was.

The wastebadge raises the snow cap by 20, from 160 to 180. GS = 2x day, LS in snow = 2x GS, that 20 point raise is gone in 5 days.
(Assuming you're leveling once per day on avg. And ofc, not exact..)

That change is so short that unless you're keeping tabs, you'll be missing it. If you ever even see it, you'd need to unlock the badge in that window.
