I'm a little confused by the new Biome Badges.

I really enjoy this game but play with no zombies. It's how I've always played this game and have been looking forward to the challenge of the new environments in the biomes.

I've been looking at how to progress into the different biomes and it looks as if you need to pass challenges and get biome badges. One of the requirements of getting these badges is to kill a certain amount zombies. Does this mean that I can't get those badges and then progress to the next biomes? That would be a game-breaker for me so I hope not.

Does anyone know?

Other than using a mod to change the challenges or disabling biome hazards, no... you cannot get the badges without killing zombies. You have the option to use smoothies to be in the other biomes, but it would require effort to make enough to be in the biome for extended lengths of time.

Edit: You can also just give yourself the badges from the creative menu, but that kind of defeats having biome hazards enabled.

Oops. As zombies are optional in the settings, killing a certain number probably shouldn't be included as a requirement. Rule no. 1 of RPG game design, at least, is that all classes should be able to finish the game. I'd think something similar goes here as well for optional zombies, raiders and whatever else might be turned off in the settings. Players should be able to to play the biome hazards, if they like, without having to change the perameters of the game they're playing. TFP might want to consider that.
 
It is rather disappointing. Just because some players prefer to play without zombies doesn't mean they don't like a challenge. I love the idea of having them but with perhaps an option to change the zombie killing requirement to a different type of challenge for those who play zombie-less.

I play on PS so I don't think I could use mods and I'm not keen on that anyway to be honest.

Edited to add: I have re-started and changed the settings to turn the biome hazards off - I just wish I hadn't had to.
 
You could make bug report. As turning off zombies is an option, it may be important enough for a fix

For example that the zombie kill requirement would be automatically fullfilled in that case, or that biome hazards are automatically turned off with it, or that there is a message to turn off biome hazards as well.

I am sure they won't replace it with a different challenge though, that would be too much effort for a too small player group.
 
I've made a suggestion in the Pimp Dreams forum, should I still do the bug report?

Edited to add: I have done the bug report although I had to use links from a Gamespot review to show the challenge screen. I don't know how to send links like that from a PS. I hope it'll be ok. Thank you.
