I was repairing one item and disassembling another with my inventory full, getting the "no room in inventory" message when I logged out and shut down. Started back up and logged back in, got the denial sound all spammy like you might know is normal in this situation.
When I dumped my inventory in a storage crate, the errors started and didn't stop coming. No keys worked, the cursor barely responded to looking around and mousing over inventory items. In-game time progressed normally, though.
Alt+F4ing out and logging back in, the errors resumed immediately and so did the lack of functionality.

- Reproduction Steps
- Have an item you can repair and an item you can scrap in a container.
Fill player inventory with other items.
Opening aforementioned container, repair the first item and scrap the second.
Wait until you receive the "no room in inventory" notification.
Log out of game.
Log back into game.
Dump inventory into a container.
Voila!
