PS Console Edition Confusion

Hey all, apologies for what is probably already a thread (I have searched but can't seem to find anything!)

I own the PS4 version of 7DTD and it's the ancient version of the game, it's still got the scrap frame ramp blocks

When I look at the store however I see a couple of different versions (Looking specifically for the latest PS5 version with the most recent updated features)

What has happened to the console versions?

Sorry in advance for anyone having to rehash old answers or threads
 
The Legacy console version you have was developed by Iron Galaxy, and released by TellTale Games.
TellTale Games went bankrupt, and no longer exists. TFP managed to get control of the assets again after they were sold off in the bankruptcy auction so that they could later release their own version.

As of July 2024, TFP has released their own version of their game on the console.
It was not possible to "upgrade" the TellTale Games client because of multiple reasons. Primarily being that TellTale Games sold it as a finished product, and not a preview/alpha build. But additionally because TFP did not have any rights to that store listing. If you owned the digital legacy version though, you still have access to download the old TellTale game client. (I did so just a couple of weeks ago.) You can also purchase the new version of the client that is on the same version as the PC Stable build. (Keep an eye out for discounts, it usually goes for 25-40% off. I bet there is a sale at the end of June, or for July 4th.)

Check the News section of the forum, and you can see several of the old console announcement threads regarding the demise of the Legacy version.

Yes, that looks like the current version for PS5. The old PS4 version is not for sale anymore.

And do note that this will not run on a PS4.
