Augers and chainsaws deal more damage

Simple. Buff the damage of augers and chainsaws so it's more effective. That way people wouldn't mind switching from steel to mechanical

A part of me wants it to deal as much as steel but that might be a bit strong.

But stronger augers to at least 2 or 3 tap stone and get extra? Hell yeah

I agree lol. But i did see a youtuber talking about how much more/faster resources you get from each node when using mechanical means of gathering. But i usually just go with steel.

I miss the one shot auger book. I just look at them as easy to use and not requiring stamina rather than necessarily being better, and I get so much from them in a short time as it is, so it doesn't really bother me which is "better". But I would like seeing the one shot return for augers.

I don't think they need to be buffed. I use them all the time when I go out mining resources (I tend to play agility focused builds).

I use steel at first, and when I go through POIs; but anything involving mining resources for crafting I use augers and chainsaws. They are a noticeable upgrade from steel tools in my playthroughs.

Not everything has to be damaged based to be an upgrade. Not having to worry about stamina usage is a key point to use them.

Just to clarify what I said a bit... My response was solely about augers. I rarely use a chainsaw. I'll still be using my Q6 stone axe with mods installed in it to get wood even in the late game. Stamina with that isn't an issue, unlike the other axes. And it is fast enough for even my large building needs. And since you turned Joe time running between trees than coping them down, it isn't a big deal. Now that we have groups of trees, it might be more noticeable, though.

I terms of fuel cost it's not worth it too me. I rather use it for Molotovs, or mostly for my city running 4x4. But I do use the chainsaw just because it's fun

Steel gets the job much faster and if I wear a good mining set of armor. Stamina is not a issue.

Augers: yes they gather slightly more during 1.0 . But I've tried using a auger on runs due to that, Got tier 6 and got to work. I just went back to my tier 6 steel pick cuz it did more damage and I got more work done.

For mining resources exclusively I rarely use the Auger.

Everything else I use the steel Tier.

Stone axe is just wonderful such a nice tool to have

I use the stone axe long after its "obsolescence" in general as it saves on repair kits - just an economy thing.

I also use the auger although the math is better with steel, it saves on fatigue and food and drink.

By the time am using the auger, fuel is rarely an issue.

Chainsaw never use. Then again tbh I rarely use the improved axes either.

Fuel isn't really an issue once you can get an auger. By then, you should have easy access to it. Once you can make fuel, it is never a problem, no matter what you do. We always have a crate of fuel.

I can go out and move for 15 minutes with an auger and come back with 4-6 attacks of ore. I think that is pretty good.

What was your perk level in Miner 69 for that run? I found that when I only have one level in the perk, I get a lot more cleared out in a mine using the auger rather than a pick. I also do multiple sites to mine so I want to get as much ore in a short period of time so I don't have to drag it out.

Typically when I am using the auger, I also am able to craft both the chemistry station and gasoline. So a typical day of mining is going to all the nodes - including an oil shale node. Gasoline is hardly an issue once I am at this stage.

I tend to avoid swapping armor sets so I don't keep a set of lumberjack or miner at my base - unless that is the armor set I choose to wear in the playthrough.
