PC Hosting in "spectator mode"

NiteVIper

Scavenger
Is that something that is even possible to do, lately I've been hosting a session on my PC while playing on my PS5, is there any way for me to have my character on the PC be a spectator so I don't have to worry about dying or anything?

You could just run the server on your PC. Otherwise, if you want to just host it that way, you can enable god mode. Open the console (F1), type dm and hit enter, close the console (F1), press Q to enable god mode. If you changed keybindings, it may be something other than Q. In god mode, you can't be harmed. I'd probably also either fly up in the sky so they aren't even trying to attack you, but that is up to you.

Can also hit Esc once you've used the dm command and there is a checkbox called Invisible that stops you from being targeted, spawning zombies, etc. Probably the closest thing to spectator in 7 Days afaik.

That's interesting. I've never noticed that. Probably since I disable dm after I use it, so never go to the ESC menu when it's enabled. Good to know!

Yeh, for running the server, you don't need a character on the PC. Just the server.

If you place an extra character, note that it'll effect horde nights; if it's near you, it'll increase your horde stage, if it's far, it'll have its own horde night possibly reducing your zombie count.

Thank you for the info about hitting the esc button, doing that plus the flying that @Riamus mentioned, will make it easier to host without having to worry about my character getting killed or anything.

Using the invisible mode would be all you would need, I think. I didn't know about it, which is why I suggested flying. Flying works too about being attacked or targeted except for vultures. If you are in the desert, or it is horde night, they will still target and attack you even if they can hurt you. But with the invisible mode, they will act like you aren't there.

Well, I went ahead and went invisible plus went in fly mode so that way my hosting character isn't seen and doesn't intrude with the players in any way.
