Settings for killing zombies or how they die

Default: normal, headshots deal extra damage

Default plus: headshots deal extra damage but they have a chance to comeback unless head is destroyed

Headshots only: headshots are the only way to kill zombies

no bonus: headshots deal no bonus damage all is treated equally.

No bonus plus: headshots deal no bonus damage, zombie have a chance to come back.

Extream: no bonus damage, headshots only, chance to come back, heals bonus health if they come back

I like the idea of a game option for "headshot only" (except for vultures, because how terrible hit boxes those have). I very often play like then using a small modlet, it would be nice to have that as a vanilla game option, so it is available also for example for consoles.

that's the funny thing about headshots only(i had a friend make a mod to do this) it really doesn't change the playstyle, you are already incentivized to go for head shots with the massive damage bonus.

That is the point of asking to have it as a game option. Yes, there are mods for that, it is extremely simple to mod. The point is, make it a game option so you do not need a mod, so people that do not want to use mods have the option, and so people who cannot use mods (Consoles) also have the option.

For some people, for example me, it actually changes the game play quite drastically. Trying to Shoot a running dog or a running dire wolf on the head is very different to shooting to the body. The same for spider zombies, hitting them on the head with a melee weapon is quite different than just melee them. The same for a Radiated biker on nightmare speed, being forced to shoot to the head to actually inflict any damage to it is quite different than just shooting to the body and perhaps hitting the head if you are lucky. It is not only more damage to the head, it is NO DAMAGE to body, only head.

We are not talking about horde night inside cheesy bases where you do not even have to aim to get head shots, but actual game play. Very different.

So we end up with a confusing interface because there are 150 different options to play with because everyone wants something to be an option instead of relying on a mod. That isn't a solution, and it doesn't make things easier for the console.

Yes, understandable, that is a good point. Sometimes having less options is simpler and better.

I think we should ask TFP to remove the different options for map size, make things simpler, leave just the 6k one. Remove the option for loot respawn too, everybody loves loot respawn, no need for a confusing choice alternative here. Also, it might be good to remove the option for day length, and perhaps the option for horde night frequency, we do not want players to get confused, it is probably better to rely on mods for that.
I am also thinking, having that many options for loot abundance or air drops, together with % experience gain, might be overkill in terms of number of options, better remove them and ask modders to add them back. No need to confuse anybody with too much choice and decisions 😉.

Just joking a little 😄, I get the point of too many options being too much, but I always think more alternatives and liberty to choose is always better, without having to always rely on mods 😊

I know faatal mentioned about looking to add more options to the game as they get closer to the end, but he did also warn us that they want to keep the setup menus compact. And over the years, there has been a lot of options requested. We might see more as 2.0/3.0/4.0 gets released, but I won't count on a PZ type of smorgasbord of options
