    Until you get better bows and pump up the Archery skill, the bow is pretty lack luster. Indeed most of the weapons are (at the beginning). But, whatever you do, don't adapt to the new changes / challenges okay? Don't make a stone spear, or charred meat, for example.

    Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but you've been able to run from the horde ever since I started (A9). You don't need a vehicle either, just some beer or coffee and run run run. To be honest I haven't tried it yet in A17, but I'm guessing it still works.

    Another simple idea is to tie farming / gardening success to a skill. Low skill = low yields. This would only be truly effective though if there weren't enough skill points to become a master of everything.
