Yeah this isnt a bug, that is just the block "hitbox" that the "floating" ones are attaching to.

Not sure if this is similar to the windows not showing water when looking through them but got caught in a snow storm at Trader Hugh's and noticed that you could see the storm effects through the doors, but not through windows.
