I agree they should have kept the other 2 biomes or at least left them in the code to be able to mod them in. But RANDOM World Generator should be guess what? RANDOM. I think this is a step in the right direction. They just need to make everything bigger including the biomes and map itself.

Mountains seem to slowly be making a come back and IMO the new map is lightyears better than the old. Random should be random, not snow n desert s. That kills the replayability for me. The biomes need to be bigger as does the entire map, but the randomness is welcome back with open arms.
