I've been highly critical in the past regarding the development arc of 7Days with A17 being a low point (i stopped playing months ago). A18* is a cracking return to form and a massive improvement, it can't be stated enough. The fun is back for sure and the team have done a fantastic job...

Possibly a setting best change to on or off then in the options and default on value of low in a future build? Even dropping down to 720p when using high reflection quality the frametime variance is jarring.

A great suggestion! I don't like the stripper model (removed the model from my mod), just seems dated and crass to have it. So for a bit of equality having a stripped off bloke seems reasonable! Maybe a Twitter campaign #sjw #feminism #7dtd :D

Another example but from a custom map so not possible to replicate. 4k and 1080p screenshots, both using Ultra+ reflection quality. 4k = 54fps and feels awful. 1080p = 76fps (49% gpu load) and feels just as bad.

4k - reflection quality Ultra+ (no other changes to the previous screenshot) 52fps and a frametime that leaps between 8ms to near 30ms, it feels awful, juttering, jarring, microstutter. Again not about fps, i've dropped 2fps and it feels completely trash. 1080p - reflection quality Ultra+...

4k - reflection quality low 54fps and a nice consistent 18ms frametime, it feels good no jarring

Here is what i found after extensive testing and i will say this. A17.1 performance has improved vs A17 for my issue, it's not fixed or great but better at least. I'm going to bin the term microstuttering and be very specific as i'm referencing frametimes. It's inconsistent frametimes causing...
