Hunting for ultra-rare/powerful or unique gear would do a lot to keep me going past the point where I don't worry about blood moons and rarely (Charged zombies!) die anywhere. I don't mean like "30 new items!"...I'm suggesting hundreds...the rarest of which sporting positive and/or negative buffs.
