Which map are you playing on, Random or Nav? I was there for the longest time on a Random gen map. A majority of my map was water so it took me forever to get from point A to B. Set up a bunch of campfires and light them all up as well as killing the zombies as they come. If you're playing with friends have one down on the ground cleaning up the corpses while the others shoot the zombies coming at them.
