Have the new options under "Advanced" or "Sandbox". I too played Zomboid and they have a great system. We are getting the same here, and in the most recent updates we got to choose how fast ferals run, a welcome option.

You make them? I always found them in loot or buy them from the trader in A15/16. In A17, just get a few quests done and either you'll be levelled enough to build them or rich enough to buy them.
