Grandpa Roland's Top 5

I kinda hate that the zombies attack the bottom block now. Of all the things people complain about with regard to 2.0, that's the one thing I'm probably the most disappointed with. I don't mind that they can crouch and crawl too much, but I wish they'd do that when the opportunity arises (maybe in specific POIs, or an explosion blows out a block, etc), instead of that being their default way to get through a wall now. It has effectively halved the health of most blocks (since they need to break just one now instead of 2 like they did before).

1) 4x4. Love the storage Hate the speed and fragility
2) screamers. Sometimes love sometimes hate
3) Rekt. Love to hate him
4) HUD. Love the info but hate it being on the screen. F7 keeps me sane.
5) Fishing. Love to think about it being in the game but hate that it isn’t.

If they still attacked the top block first, couldn't they crouch through that top block as well? The culprit seems to be that zombies can crouch now, not what block they attack.

They could hit. They couldn't get through. In the old algorithms, it turned out that they broke the upper block, then the lower one, and only after that they passed. Now they just break the lower block and get through. In fact, the person is right when he says that the strength of the blocks has decreased by half.

I just add a plate to the bottom row so that it has double hp. The real game changer has been POI exploration since outside zombies are getting in much more often and can sneak up behind you. I haven't seen much impact with this on horde night since I now double up that bottom row.

Why is plating a new thing? I have plated bottom 3 blocks in BM base, always. With the anti dig floor. I can see a new person, but some with "hours" this should be a new thing.

Then again, I dont care. My Z block damage s set to 10%.

Heh, it isn't indeed. I used to make a basic base most entirely out of plates. A pretty standard "fence" setup, where all the fence plates would take up the interior block space, so I could use plates rotated 90 degrees to separate the zeds into their own little boxes (one zed per block). That spread them out nicely and they couldn't all push to the front, ending up queueing behind others.. also kept their movement limited for easy aiming. Might have to check how it'd fail these days.

But there's a potential for a new plate .. hack. I was testing something else, and haven't checked this throughout, but having a floor made of plates seemed to glitch the zeds a bit. They would see the plate I was standing on as something they'd have to destroy to get to me, so whenever I moved, they swapped sides to the wall that was nearest to me (least blocks to dig through). Normally they would just dig through whatever they started on, but with the floor plates, my movement was changing their pathing.

Didn't bother to check further, but seemed promising for an on the ground -base. (Might also be fixed already, seemed like a fickle thing)

I don't think so? I think the only way they can crawl through a gap at the second block level is if they have another zombie to jump up on top of or something else to boost them up. Can they jump and crouch at the same time? I guess it should be easy to test if you have like a steel block at the bottom and then a 1x1 hole at the second block height and see what they do.

Yeh, sounds about right. Single zeds don't crawl through a missing second block, but even two may push each other enough to nudge one through.

The “new” thing is to make the bottom level twice as much hp as the second level so the zombies attack the weaker portion. If you plate all three levels making them equal, I believe they will still attack the bottom blocks. Maybe it’s just a wrong belief that they attack weak areas first but it seems to be working for me.
