Perhaps I could have said it in a different way
 
If I had to reintroduce Jars in the game I would change the gameplay mechanic of it.

  • First of all after an apocalypse it'd make more sense to use plastic bottles for liquids, instead of glass jars.
  • Plastic bottles could become loot-only, but when you find them they'd just be "Dirty Plastic Bottles".
  • I'd make them usable to collect water, but as said, both the water and the bottle would be murky/dirty.
  • To use them more effectively without risking to catch some illness, you'd have to clean them up before using them in recipes.
  • Cleaning/disinfecting them could be a process made at some workstation.
What would be different you'd ask?

Well, first of all the issue that you could easily produce hundreds of Glass Jars at the forge, would be solved.
Secondarily, making and drinking clean water would become a two step process, involving both disinfecting the bottles AND boiling the water.

What do you think? :unsure:

I think that on a lot of points a lot of people here agree with you. I know that I have on many of your POVs. Where I think you garner negative responses is in the energy you bring to the conversation.

Should dates have been included on the roadmap? Hell no. And we've heard a similar sentiment from one of the devs here.

But the roadmap is what it is. It can't be retroactively changed. They're going to keep going down rabbit holes, and that is non-negotiable because nothing on that roadmap was fully fleshed out. It sucks that this mislead you into buying the game and that you subsequently feel ripped off.

...but this thread is where some of the best communication from TFP dev occurs. That communication is happening voluntarily, largely from a dev that has also agreed that dates should not have appeared on the roadmap. You continuously rage over something that is done and cannot be undone. I understand why. I sympathize. But it gets old.
 
Having retreated from Reddit, I can only look back with pity on the 7DTD players who had perfection with Glass Jars and then having lost it.
We should all play the games we want.
I wonder if there is another game on the market with Glass Jars that would provide these poor refugees with some gaming solace? Does that utopia exist? Anyone know?
We know they're ready to die on the Hill of Glass Jars: they've made it plain. 7DTD was perfect with Glass Jars. Is there an alternative game for them?

What of the Return of the Glass Jar? Gimping the perfection of the Glass Jar will anger the prelates of the faith. The holiness will be sullied.
So, Jost Amman, I believe we are chasing a phantom that cannot be appeased unless resurrected in pureness and sanctification as had existed before.

I get that my point of view is seldom welcome on this site...that's why I am still here.
Console was getting boned and none of you cared. THIS is the 7 dtd site...and it's the last place l can get honest conversation about the state of the game.
it bears saying again...TFP knew that they were going to relaunch to console and didn't bother getting the site ready for console to return...that's how half assed it is for console. and you guys did not care we had legit beefs. That made me more aggressive.
They sold the game to US with that roadmap...and we STILL got you guys saying it doesn't matter...this is who TFP are...it takes as long as it takes.

when people started asking for better communication....how did the residents here react?
by dog piling...the way they always do...driving out the dissenters, and you guys are proud of it.

I get why Joel went to Reddit instead of here.

I see now

I don't mind the relaunch for console personally. I got no problem sending money for a game I will enjoy despite it's changes but hopefully alot will change back too some of the older ways

But after thinking about it. I see why Joel doesn't come here

But the issue isn't that you asked for better communication, it that you demanded it. I would love better communication from the devs, but what they tell us is their prerogative. We purchased their product and spent anywhere from $10 to $50 on it. This doesn't give us the right to run their company. Nor are we entitled to insider information, special consideration or even to dictate their hiring practices.

Would the forums be happy if they hired a Communications Manager or Social Media Manager or some similar way for them to apprise us on a regular basis of what's happening internally on the game? Definitely. But do we, as customers, have any right to demand this or any other changes to the way they've run their company for the past decade? No.

We are lucky to have so many of the devs and staff who post here regularly. If enough of us start to act like entitled children, demanding things and accusing devs of not being communicative, we'll probably just see fewer posts from them as they get fed up, like Madmole did a couple years ago. He used to post here regularly but left for reasons we may never know for sure, but I assume that he just got tired of the toxicity of these forums.

People seem to be mad they can't crouch on a puddle to fill their water.
What I would do, is add a flask to the game.
Create a slot in your inventory exclusive for said flask. You can now go to your local puddle and fill your flask or fill it with boiled water. Let it be worth about 10 uses.
You can also add the water filter mod to it. So you can safely drink your murky water.

"Too mean for me"? Well I don't know that I'd put it that way. You seem to go directly to being antagonistic anytime someone disagrees with you, so if you never had anything of value to say I'd just straight up ignore you. But you often have points that are worth considering, even on subjects where I disagree with you, so I do read your posts regardless of tone. I just give some a thumbs down or a cookie because the antagonism is unwarranted, even when I agree with your broader point.

Anyway I thought that maybe you'd get some peace of mind to know that some of the negative reacts you get are just people reacting to the way you treat the people you're chatting with, and not about your broader pov at all. But now I'm getting the sense that you want that negative attention. You want this to be dogpiling.

So okay, have it your way. It's you against the world.

I push back ■■■■■■■ people who will not acknowledge reality...like the stuff i keep repeating...because it is true and the longer it goes unacknowledged and addressed, the less likely i am to be gentle. I get tired of having to bring this stuff up, but, it is true...and it is only through repeating it that I got through at all.

fair...it is when people are not being reasonable that the bigger misunderstandings get amplified.

we're not even acknowledging how much "we" as people self censor because we just don't want to hear it.
 
I disagree with [HammerDano’s] point of view, I think you're reading too much in our replies.

Of course people who are consistently here discussing on this forum have probably more moderate views than what you have.
Could this be the reason why you perceive our replies as attacks of sort and not just like some bantering between fellow players?

I agree with you that there should be a separate forum section where Console players can have their specific issues discussed.
