PC V2.0 Storms Brewing Dev Diary

Yeah. It would make sense to have the two settings "Uncountably many Injuries" for Newbies, and "Almost instant Death" for hardcore players. 😜
it's good that we're currently seeing this too, with the new progression and limited loot caps for biomes having an option for default and classic gameplay, it would be more work but if we had more settings like rage having default and classic meaning none or some other things of that sort i think we can have a great deal of customisability.

The better biomes is definitely nice, and I've tried the trees mod by Dashu, which also looks great, but at least with that mod, I started to get certain vanilla textures showing in the low resolution mode, making the game look bad.  I could use the gfx command to make them high resolution again, but I'd have to keep doing that as I moved around because they'd eventually be low resolution again.  Things like vanilla trees and grass and vehicles would all look that way when the mod was installed.  I would happily take a performance hit in order to have a way to force everything to use the high resolution textures, but when I can't force it to always use those, it just wasn't worth using in my game.  I'm guessing that better biomes one would have the same effect.  It seems that anything that adds enough extra textures causes the problem as I've seen the same situation with certain other mods.

As far as the second image, the ivy isn't bad, but I wouldn't want the graffiti.  For one, it doesn't show the texture under it (no brick shapes under that), which makes it look odd.  And second, there are only going to be a relatively small number of graffiti images and seeing the same ones hundreds of times around a large city would look bad, imo.  If the game could automatically generate random graffiti that looked good and matched the underlying textures, I would be interested.  Otherwise, that's one that I'll avoid.
how about a quest where you hunted down the sctrotum who defiled the wall and shoved a spraycan down his thoat?

i cannot believe tolerance for graffiti.

it is vandalism.

Ok, those are really sweet mods! Hows the performance hit?

Better Biomes should have no noticeable performance hit on any halfway modern system.  I've been using it a long time and consider it a must-have mod. The immersion it adds is fantastic. Gameplay-wise, all the extra undergrowth makes travel more dangerous and interesting because it's a lot more difficult to spot zombies out in the woods.

All of those are pretty good and other stuff doesn't make sense like like the random fires and water hydrants still going off

But the base game has this issue too. Like the fact electricity is still up. Even tho it's been who knows how long sense the apocalypse.  The burnt forest still burning.  Etc

I imagine the burntforest biome as having an underground coal fire burning, which is good enough for my suspension of disbelief. Sort of like Silent Hill, I guess. But I also mod out the burning embers ground decos and replace them with the cold ash versions. Using cold ash decos makes the burntforest feel a LOT more believable.

I suppose. And I like to believe that

Or the forest just is in a endless cycle of burning and growing

"Storms are in biomes.xml and per biome like this:

<weather name="storm" prob="0" duration="3" delay="22,36" buff="buffSnow_Storm">"

I'm the happiest person on earth playing PC. The freedom, its almost overwhelming with the modding capabilities you keep adding with new features. Love it.

Understandable. But i'm not one, so that' s why i'm so happy with the modding capabilities they keep adding with new features. Freedom FTW.
Oh I'm not complaining about the freedoms about it. Far from it. I love seeing stuff like darkness falls, afterlife, urbandecay etc.

My only issue is. Granted the devs have started to work/add on too it. Like the weather system

Is more options

Like from the menu, let me customize animal spawns ether amount or difficulty

Increase zombie spawn amount and world difficulty

Food, ammo, armor, weapons, etc

I mostly want a world setting changer too ether Increase difficulty of basic zombie spawns and wildlife. So I can face Solders and wolves in the forest.

And so they aren't just bullet sponges

@faatal Do you happen to know if armor sets are going to get a pass-over? A few are kind of lackluster and don't seem to have much viability past mid-tier, and several pieces as a whole are just lackluster and boring.

You should post this in the request section, It's a pretty good idea. Some people are hesitant to touch

files for fear of breaking something on pc. Also if a it could be done similar to the SMx UI format.

Later TFP may be able to convert it to a sub menu that can be used on console.

@faatal Hello!

Anything special to report on the latest things you've been working on these days?

As always, many thanks for visiting the forums on a regular basis. Very much appreciated.

Welp, that's disappointing. They could use another pass and some variety. Too many of the pieces are just "safe fall protection" or "run speed" or "bartering". It's a bit boring. :(
While I agree with you, you know there would be people who complain about magic armor bonuses lol.
