The 7D2D Mod Launcher - A Mod Launcher for 7 Days to Die

Good day Sphereii

There might be an issue with the launcher and A20 ... This has happened twice now with 2 different mods ... Darkness Falls and Zombiedayz. I get an error and it will go to this screen ...... Zombiedayz did complete ... but could not get DF to finish after 20 minutes, so I exited out and cleaned file.

That screen is the Hail Mary attempt. It means the other way failed too many times. Looks like you might be having issues with Azure-based mods.

Have you tried to see if the new mod launcher has the same issue for you?

Seems to be struggling with that file,as if another process has it open.

This is the new mod launcher I was talking about: https://github.com/SphereII/7D2DModLauncher/archive/refs/heads/Windows-Installer.zip   It' a complete replacement to your current one, and compatible.

Nevermind, it continued, I don't remember it taking so long on original install.

Hello,

"On downloading and deploying mod..." stage I'm getting

IOException: ...........\TempMods\mod is not empty

It is not freezing but never moves past this.

Thank you

I pushed a fix for the IO Exception. I'll try to do some testing on the speed of the copy. It could be slightly slower in some ways. I'm working on ways to make the copy faster, ironically, but it might come at the expensive of a full copy.

I see that this has been mentioned before, but I didn't see an update or a fix. My husband and I play a game that's saved on his computer. He recently had to reformat his computer, and has since installed the new version of the launcher. We got it up and running and played a while and all was well. The next day, he loaded up the game and the save files were gone. Well, not gone. But the launcher wasn't pointing to them anymore. We finally found it and got all that sorted out, and we were able to play again. Today we wanted to play again, and the same thing happened. He chooses to continue game, and the game list is empty. Each and every time we play, it seems we have to point to our save files all over again.

It doesn't keep his player profile either, so each time we go in he has to create a new one.

What in the world is going on with this? How do we get the launcher to point to the same place every time? I'm sure there's something we're missing. I just can't figure out what it is. Please help.

Are you launching through the mod launcher each time?

Yes. The only way we've found to tell it what folder to point to is the "Add Existing Install" button, so once we get it pointed to the right place we click the Play button at the top and start the game from there.

Hmm... If the mod launcher is running, can you close it down? Then, in the ModLauncher's folder, where the modLauncher.exe is at, can you grab the logs.zip and add them to your post? I'll take a look.

It won't let me attach a zip file. It's limited to gif, jpeg, jpe, jpg, png, webp.

It's possible I'm being stupid and you're asking me to copy/paste the info in the text document(s) that is/are inside the zip file. If so, please let me know which one(s) you need and I'll paste them.

I just did. Subject line is "zip file as requested"
Thank you.

In the Mod Launcher, I see there's a section for the MANUAL INSTALL and INSTALLED OVERHAULS. Are we consistently picking the same one to run? I wonder if the ModLauncher is getting confused. Try using just the INSTALLED OVERHAULS one consistently.

It's hard to tell what's selected just because of the way the installer looks. He just tried both, and they are both coming up empty. So it doesn't appear to be pointing toward where the save files are. How do we get it to point to the right folder, and go there consistently?

At first, hubby tried to install everything to the D drive, because that's where he puts all his game-related stuff. But it installed on the C drive anyway, and the Installed Overhauls section wasn't even showing. So then he reinstalled to the C drive since he thought that might have caused an issue, and so then the Installed Overhauls section showed up.

I'm not sure if that means anything, but thought I'd throw it out there just in case. The main thing is getting it to point to the right folder. As mentioned before, the first time we played it ran fine. The second time we played I used the Add existing install button to get it to point to the right folder and then we could play again. Didn't know there was any reason/need to select Manual Install or Installed Overhauls at all (I have the old launcher on my computer, so I'm not having the same experience with getting it to run). Once the Add existing install was pointing to the right place, he just hit the Play button at the top middle of the screen and that was it. It worked. But now it's not.

He can clickon the Gear Cog on the side to change where the Mods are installed at, if he wanted to put everything on D:. Once changed, he'll have to restart the Mod Launcher for it to take effect.

Maybe that's the first thing he should do, then re-install the Mod and see if the problem persists. He can delete the C:\7D2D folder to clean it all up.

He's a bit ahead of you and has cleaned everything up (after backing up our game) and is doing a reinstall. He figures that all the trying to move it around got it messed up somewhere. Hopefully it will work.

By the way - he wanted me to pass on to you that he really enjoys reading all the little comments that show while it's installing (it currently says "I'm going to walk the dog"). He gets tickled by reading them while he waits, and said good for you for adding those in. :)

Let me know how he makes out! And I'm glad he appreciates them :)
