wow, every book shelf is looking unique 😀

Are they dynamically created (filled with different books in a random order) or there will be so many different containers now? Never mind, its looking awesome.

You just broke my heart. I hope that Snowberries get some love in a future update because as it stands, they have no recipe attached to them. 😕
i hope they get a uses or be replaced with a More useful plant, like a herb, maybe Yarrow, Sage, etc

could be uses to make meds

My backpack must have fell through the world it was nowhere to be found. Instead of cheating in my lost gear, I just role played another survivor snatched it up and I'm just crafting new tools and what I can, and I'm just going to start looting again and see what I can find and rebuild my lost stuff. So it would have been like delete all on my backpack option. Its actually kind of fun replacing my lost stuff and getting a random new challenge thrown at me. More fun than dead is dead in my opinion, rebuilding stronger/better is more fun than just quitting.
That’s an admirable outlook when faced with setbacks... but from watching the Steam forum, I can tell you that nothing is frustrating players more these days than disappearing backpacks.  I had hoped that the new art for backpacks was part of an effort to redo them to be less buggy.

A new screenshot of a girl looking for her left eye. And another one with someone looking in a book shelf.

See now, already a nice new texture I see to paint with, and boy am I going to use it: the hardwood plank floor. I had a feeling we'd be getting new ones from all the commercial/store POI work this alpha, and I expect there's more yet where that came from.

And new far more 3D bookshelves.

Various stacks of books.

This should make base building peeps happy, especially those who like building libraries and/or studies, like me.

i may take over that crack a Book for the new book shelfs! :)

I'm a big fan of doing this myself (it's why I usually play with the "delete all" option). My own "role play" is that the character permanently died, but you're starting a new character, as if that new character had always existed in this same game world (so, same level, etc).

I've been asking around if anyone has a proper name for this play style, since it is quite different than "permadeath." Nobody seems to know of one. Do you have any idea?

EDIT: I've been calling it "dead is mostly dead" (a Princess Bride reference) but someone, somewhere, has to have already put a name to it.
Its basically like pvp, if you get killed you lose your @%$*#! and its not likely you will get it back.

Very unlikely it is an addition, it is an old one redone/upgraded.

I am actually wondering which model will be the craftable one using the furniture helper block now. I loved that they added the bookshelves(I would cheat my own in before:P) but now I'm not sure how that block will work. Hopefully I can make my own shelved area instead of having to move into a Crack-A-Book.

Also, for the love of all those who enjoy fixing up POIs, can we once again hook up their lighting when we install electric? That was one of my fav parts of POI bases in A16 and I miss it dearly, losing that was a serious downgrade, especially with all the new POIs.

well at least in PVP you can get your stuff back in some way shape or from

i like to make them look "Modded out" like if a waste lander Like me would live in there.

I'm pretty sure players can't have these draw call per object nice models, we get mostly crude stuff so players don't put 10000 bookshelves in and wonder why the FPS tanked. Level design balances their use and has a budget of how many polygons to spend. Most likely we'll get the same book case models to build with. You can mod it in though.

Ah, so it replaces the old bookshelf, makes sense, but now there seems to be more than one model for bookshelves... which one is craftable? All of the them or just one? I imagine one, would have to check furniture block menu to see.

Ah, makes sense, that is a lot higher quality asset than before, I would prob kill my own FPS making too many:P I'm good with the existing ones, will be nice to see these though. Also it may motivate me to try living in a Crack-A-Book, just for the better shelving... plus I am just realizing I have never lived in one before... and now I have a new play through goal for experimental.

Exactly! I do it for that added immersion, in a very similar way. If alone in an empty world full of awesome buildings who in their right mind would start their own building from scratch in an actual post-apocalypse full of free real estate? And I love building from scratch, still do it, but I try to make it all add-ons or expansion of existing structure instead of some pyramid in the middle of some random field away from everything, that always feels too "gamey" to me, like it reminds me that I am playing a game, too much.

Also helps with looting since I tend to utilize POIs in or near cities. Then, if I get some neat idea, I will start larger custom builds as more of a late game thing. I sometimes make my Blood Moon tower separate(though adapting buildings for those is way fun too). But from early to mid I am a hardcore POI adapter, it just always feels far more like what would actually happen in such a world, makes me feel more an actual part of it, adapting.

I've played MP games where we get hardcore about it, like super careful not to overly damage or remove existing structure or props, and a bunch of us take over existing POIs in entire neighborhoods, reviving/remodeling the existing structures, often in-line with whatever specialization we choose. Sometimes all in one POI like the mil base. Food girl took over the mess hall, INT/vehicle kid took over the garage, I maintained a micro-base/HQ facility/fallback point in the basement vault and focused on turning Aldo's cabinets up the street into our BM base(worked well, except the one BM I couldn't make it and returned to a 50' x 100' deep hole, yay Demolishers!). Is fun, and tonsss more immersive.
