Heat question

Does heat generated in a chunk have any up/down range limits? For instance, if I built a lot of heat at or near the height build limit, would that heat travel all the way down to bedrock for that chunk?

No limits to the heat itself, it's the same all along the z-axis. But there seems to be a limit to the ability to spawn a screamer, something like 50 blocks of depth to the heat source prevents them from actually spawning and/or aggroing. That much depth only exists under mountains in vanilla maps, the standard world depth is about 30 blocks nowadays.
