Step 1: Download & Install the Mod
- Download the mod zip file
- Extract/unzip the contents
- Create a folder named RedQueenMod in your 7 Days to Die server's Mods folder
- Place all extracted files into the RedQueenMod folder
- Rename config.example.json to config.json
Step 2: Create Discord Bot
- Navigate to Discord Developer Portal
- Click "New Application" and give it a name
- Go to the "Bot" tab on the left sidebar
- Click "Add Bot"
- Copy the Bot Token (you'll need this for config.json)
- Go to the "General Information" tab and copy the Application ID (Client ID)
- Enable all Privileged Gateway Intents in the Bot tab:
- Presence Intent
- Server Members Intent
- Message Content Intent
Step 3: Invite Bot to Server
- Go to the "OAuth2" tab → "URL Generator"
- Select "bot" and "applications.commands" in Scopes
- Select "Administrator" in Bot Permissions
- Copy the generated URL and open it in your browser
- Select your Discord server and authorize the bot
Step 4: Configure the Mod
- Open config.json in a text editor
- Update the following values:
- "discord-bot-token": Paste your Bot Token from Step 2
- "discord-client-id": Paste your Application ID from Step 2
- "discord-channel-id": Right-click your Discord channel → Copy ID
- "ai-api-key": Your OpenRouter API key (if using AI features) - Customize other settings as desired (colors, AI personality, etc.)
Step 5: Start Your Server
- Start your 7 Days to Die dedicated server
- The mod will automatically load and connect to Discord
- Check the server console for connection status
- Test the bridge by sending messages in Discord and in-game
Admin Commands
Use these slash commands in Discord (requires admin permissions):
- /redqueen-spawn - Spawn zombies or airdrops
- /redqueen-give - Give items to players
- /redqueen-players - List online players
- /redqueen-status - Check server status
- /redqueen-ai - Toggle AI responses
- /redqueen-help - Show all available commands
Troubleshooting
- Make sure your Discord bot has the required permissions
- Check that all config values are correctly filled out
- Verify the Discord channel ID is correct
- Check server console logs for error messages
- Ensure the bot is online in your Discord server
Customization Options
The mod is highly customizable through the config.json file:
Chat & Message Features:
- `enable-welcome-messages` - Toggle welcome messages when players join the server
- `enable-death-roasts` - Enable/disable humorous AI comments when players die
- `enable-chat-bridge` - Enable/disable the Discord-Game chat bridge entirely
- `enable-game-messages` - Toggle game event messages (deaths, joins, leaves) to Discord
Discord Status Management:
- `status-rotation` - Enable automatic rotation of Discord bot status messages
- `statuses-file` - Path to JSON file containing custom status messages (default: "statuses.json")
AI Personality & Behavior:
- `ai-personality-name` - Change from "Red Queen" to any AI name (GLaDOS, Cortana, ARIA, HAL, etc.)
- `ai-enabled` - Enable/disable AI responses entirely
- `ai-chat-history-enabled` - Toggle chat history context for smarter AI responses
- `ai-chat-history-size` - Set how many previous messages the AI remembers (1-50)
Visual Customization:
- `ai-color` - Change AI message color (hex format: #DC143C for red, #00FF00 for green, etc.)
- `discord-color` - Change Discord message color (hex format: #00BFFF for blue, #800080 for purple, etc.)

Classic Red Queen: Name: "Red Queen", Color: #DC143C (crimson red)
Portal's GLaDOS: Name: "GLaDOS", Color: #FFA500 (orange)
Halo's Cortana: Name: "Cortana", Color: #0080FF (blue)
Custom ARIA: Name: "ARIA", Color: #9932CC (purple)
